There’s nothing better than a hot bowl of noodles on a cold day. My friend introduced me to Ramen Santouka, located on Robson near Denman. This restaurant is extremely popular in Vancouver and many chains are located in Japan.
When we arrived around 6pm, there was already a lineup from inside to outside, and we had to wait another 15-20 minutes until we sat down. The restaurant is quite small, and if you eat in a small group, it is most likely you will have someone you don’t know end up beside you.
Despite the bustling service, the people there are friendly and they work fast and serve quickly. They probably serve quickly to accommodate the long line up of people. But, they did not neglect in serving good ramen!
I ordered the Shoyu Ramen (small for $8.95) which has pork broth seasoned with soy sauce. It came with a couple of slices of pork, which happened to be submerged in the bottom. I liked the lightness of the broth and the pork and noodles were soft and delicious!
My friend ordered the Toroniku Miso Ramen ($12.95) which has simmered pork jowl and miso with flavoured ramen. The toppings are placed separetely in another dish.
I like the authenticity of this restaurant and I can understand why people wait so long for a hot bowl of tasty ramen. The price is fairly decent, and this is definitely one of the better ramen places I have tried in Vancouver.
