I am so sorry I haven’t had time to post for a while- I’ve been caught up with some extreme school work and making robots, and I know I’ve been disappointing with my lack of frequent blogging. I have some beauty world related goods to show you in the future, but today is a food post on Jang Mo Jib!

I went to Jang Mo Jib (Richmond location) a couple weeks ago to have a mini high school reunion with my girls. I think the last time we went there was 5 years ago?! In a group of 9 people, we shared three dishes.

Our jab chae is one of our favourite dishes. This is a “stir fry sweet potato noodle with assorted vegetables and beef cooked in a house special marinade sauce.”  This stuff is extremely addictive to me, and also to everyone else. It is not too salty and the potato noodles are chewy and the marinade sauce effortlessly seams into the noodles and veggies. The only downside is that there is a huge portion of veggies, but not enough beef!

Next is gam ja tahng. It is a giant pot of soup served with pork bones from the neck and back. We chose mild spiciness. I’m pretty sure I used to like this soup, but when I had it this time around, I didn’t find the soup to be as flavourful as I thought it would be. It was a bit bland and there wasn’t enough pork taste in it. The meat was also hard to rip apart. Everyone else seemed to like it though, so it’s just me probably.

Lastly, we all shared the Hae Mool Pah Jun– a seafood pancake. Packed with green onions and egg, the seafood pancake was crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside with lots of shrimp and other seafood goodness. I love the house special soy sauce that comes with it to be dipped in.

I love the little side dishes Jang Mo Jib has. The potatoes and the kimchi are a hit for me!

 

These dishes were the perfect amount of food for us!  We went there on a Friday night, and it wasn’t busy. It was a huge restaurant, but there were about 4-5 tables. By the time it was around 10pm, we were the only table left. I recall it used to be much busier. I was glad it wasn’t loud so we all had a chance to talk. I think Jang Mo Jib is more of an average Korean restaurant now, so maybe it wasn’t as busy as it used to be. However, it will always be a classic place for my friends and I!
