One little quirk about me is that I love drinking ginger tea. I don’t know why. It’s either the spicy-burning sensation with a sense of relaxation, or the smell; I love eating ginger-anything. Nowadays, I order ginger tea at Taiwanese snack places instead of, well, bubble tea!
So far, my favourite ginger drink is the Honey Ginger Tea at Pearl Castle,Richmond.

It’s sweet and sharp, but not too spicy. I also like the teapot, because the ginger slices are separated into another container within the teapot, and you press the bobble down, and it squeezes the ginger slices to enhance the flavour.
Another ginger tea I tried today was the Ginger Logan Tea from Orange Corner in Kerrisdale, Vancouver.

Longans are a type of tropical fruit, similar to lychees. I love longans in dessert or soup, and I thought it would be interesting to try it with ginger and tea. However, the drink was kind of disappointing (and expensive.) It wasn’t as spicy because I felt that the longan had diluted the flavour of the tea. The taste of the longan they used wasn’t as appealing as usual to me.
I think I’ll stick to Pearl Castle for my Honey Ginger tea until I find another place with a similar drink!
Do you like ginger as well? Or is it too spicy? Or am I just weird?
