For someone who likes to integrate cobalt blue in my fashion choices, I’m glad I can use it in beauty too…which is NYX Studio Liquid Eyeliner in Extreme Blue. There are those days where I’m up for another coloured eyeliner. Usually I go for purple but I have now ventured into blue!
From Chucky to Barbie? Lancome Hynose Doll Lashes!
I’m not going to post any doll pictures of Chucky, because that will frighten the living daylights out of me, and any viewers. However, Lancome Hynose Doll Lashes do a decent job of changing my undoll like eyes to something more admirable! One of my favourite sample/GWP mascaras at the moment is Lancome Hynose Doll Lashes. This came from a GWP, and I got a 4mL sample sized bottle in So Black!

My Opinion: I really like this product, despite a few cons. I’ll go over the pros first!
I like the natural volume and length this mascara gives me. One time I didn’t curl my lashes and coated my lashes with it before I left my house, and my lashes still had that “lifted” look. I have hooded eyelids, so my eyelids usually sit on my lashes, making them straight. But this mascara still holds my lashes for a lengthened/volume effect that I am satisfied with. My lashes don’t become heavy or uncurl after wearing it for 8+ hours.

The wand is a cone shaped, sort of like a Christmas tree. It does help reach the inner lashes at the corners of my eye, which minimizes the risks of the mascara wand poking in my eye. That happened to me once with a mascara, it was painful.

The cons: On super hot, sweaty days, the mascara would smudge on my under eye area after 1-2 hours, so it is a bit of hassle to check my pocket mirror every half an hour to make sure I don’t look like a raccoon. This product works better in cooler temperatures (at least on my eyelashes anyway.)
Additionally, there is a purfume-y smell to it, though it can’t be detected when it’s on the lashes. Sometimes the ends of my lashes would look a bit stiff after two coats. I do wish the mascara would give more oomph and volume, since it’s so pricey, but I’m not unsatisfied either.
This product has a 3.5/5 star rating on Sephora, and a 3/5 rating on makeupalley. I give this product a 4/5 – since out of my high end mascaras I have tried, I really like this one. I don’t think I look like a doll by far, but it does make my eyes more wide awake and defined behind my glasses .

Will I purchase: No, because the full size is fairly expensive, and I do not splurge on mascaras since they expire so quickly! However, if this falls again in a GWP, I would gladly welcome it.
This is my first Lancome mascara trial- and I’m pretty happy with it. I heard better reviews of other mascaras in their lines.. perhaps one day in the future I’ll splurge on one…or GWPs 😀
Have you had experience with Lancome mascaras?
By the way… I have ordered new glasses frames, so you will soon be seeing pictures of me with new spectacles!!
[REVIEW] Nars Rue Bonaparte for bright eyes
Since my eyes are hidden behind glasses most of the time, they appear smaller in size so I have to rely on magic techniques to make them look fresher, brighter, and bigger sometime! Though it’s not actually magic, but NARS Larger Than Life Long Wear Eyeliner in Rue Bonaparte certainly comes close! I purchased it at Sephora when I was in the states a while ago (see my previous haul here.)

I used to use white eyeliner for the waterline, but it was too dramatic, harsh, and unnatural on me. I’ve also tried white eyeliner with sparkles to make eyes look bigger, but it looked cakey. I was surfing through previous blogs and this product popped up and I put it on my mental shopping list.
NARS Rue Bonaparte is a matte nude eyeliner. It glides on easily with one swipe. It’s very similar to my skin colour, which is great because I like looking natural.

R: Taken in room lighting
To get more product from the pencil, there is a twister at the end. Additionally, another bonus to this eyeliner is this built in sharpener. Because the eyeliner stays smooth, even a bit of bluntness did not require me using the pencil sharpener yet.

I like the beige-ness of the colour, and it glides on well. I’ve worn it the whole day and the eyeliner barely budged. It has great pigmentation without overdoing it. It is indeed waterproof and long lasting! I hate looking tired behind my glasses!

Do you have a staple in your eye makeup collection? I’d love to hear it!
