I’m so hungry right now, hopefully blogging keeps me temporarily distracted! Also, still haven’t gotten my camera back yet =( bare with me while I still point and shootin’! I recently got my hands on the Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks; I love the tiny size of these. Small in size, these eyeshadow singles have a slide and lock mechanism, so you can slide a bunch of these side by side to make a long palette.
Drugstore Purple Makeup: with Annabelle Quad Eyeshadow + Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain!
Purple is one of my favourite colours to wear, whether its makeup or clothing. I wanted to try to go out with mainly purple makeup by putting together several products including: Annabelle Quad Eyeshadow in Grapevine, Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Darling, and Annabelle Retractable Eyeliner in Twighlighting. Budget Beauty: Drugstore Makeup for the student
School has just started, and I know that staying on a student’s budget isn’t easy. However, there’s no harm in wanting to save your money while looking great while sitting in your class through those boring lectures!
Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine Gloss in Electric Shock
Hi everyone! Sorry for my lack of posts this month, schoolwork has been piling, and I haven’t done any product reviews for more than a week! But I got to tell you about my new lip gloss!
Maybelline recently launched their new ColorSensational High Shine Gloss in 12 different colours. I ran out of Revlon’s lip gloss I have been using, and I saw a bunch of Maybelline’s lip glosses at London Drugs on sale, I had to pick some up! One colour I picked up is Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine Gloss – Electric Shock (06).
Maybelline writes on their site that these are 100% wax free and it has a creamier feel due to honey nectar.
The Maybelline gloss applicator is one of the best I’ve come across. It’s spongy and easy to maneuver that helps apply onto your lips perfectly.
This gloss is not sticky, pigmented, and can be buildable from pink to electric pink! It’s very creamy and it doesn’t even feel like a gloss to me! There are some micro glitters, but I barely notice it when I wear it. There’s more shine than glitter for sure, which is what I like! For me, the less glitter the better in a product.
The smell has a sweet, vanilla fruity smell. I can’t smell it once worn, and no distinct taste either.
Because of it’s creamy texture, it lasts for couple hours, and it fades when I eat or drink. It hasn’t dried out my lips yet, but make sure your lips are moisturized and exfoliated before putting it on! Once the lips start to dry, the lip gloss clings on to the dead skin.
1-2 swipes of the lip gloss and I can get a very bubblegum pink colour. It’s a fairly bright colour, one that I would wear out at night but not to school. How to solve this problem?
To mute Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine Gloss’ “Electric Shock” pink- I would put it on, then use a tissue to blot it off, then put lip balm over it. By toning down the colour, it looks more natural to wear it during the day.
Anyone else tried other colours in Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine gloss line? I’ve got more colours to review in the future!
[Review] Revlon Lipstick: Revlon ColorBurst in Peach
Revlon is one of my favourite drugstore brands. The stuff they create has great quality, but still relatively affordable. Their ColorBurst Lip Butters were a raging hit. But, I recently discovered how great Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick is. I got this during the summer when London Drugs had a massive sale on Revlon lipsticks- $3.99 each. There weren’t many colors and stock left from the ColorBurst line, so I picked up a Peach colour, just cause I don’t have any peach lipsticks.
On the top of the lid, there is a the color of the lipstick. It looks like a salmon-coral to me at first, and not peach.
The packaging of the Revlon lipstick is lovely. It’s plastic, but it feels sturdy. The quilted pattern helps with gripping and it increases the aesthetic value of the lipstick. $3.99 for this, not bad at all. Let’s continue on the actual product!

It still looks like a salmony-coral color. When I think of peach, I think of a light, soft orange with a bit of pink. I wasn’t sure how peach it would look like on me.
I also really like the word REVLON inscribed on the lipstick. It’s similar to Chanel!
And when I tried the lipstick, I was instantly hooked on the color! The formula is creamy and weightless. I was a bit worried about the amount of orange it would look on my pigmented lips.

I love the absence of any glitter, shimmer, and shine. It looks natural, but it makes the lips moisturized and it brightens my complexion. At first, I was freaking out because I put a layer of Nivea lip balm and then the Revlon lipstick, and it was starting to accentuate lines and dryness. Look at myself couple minutes later, and everything sets in!
However- a con I found is the staying power. Because of it’s creamy texture, a napkin or sip of water, or talking too much leave the lips dry, and takes away the peachness of it. But I like the color of the Revlon lipstick enough to reapply again! Every 2-3 hours I got to check my mirror!
(PS- I had a bit of makeup on today, was trying different looks for my upcoming grad pictures! Would Peach be a good color?)
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the price, ($3.99!) the packaging, the color payoff, and the moisturizing properties of Revlon ColorBurst lipstick. I’m tempted to try other colors, but I shall wait out for another sale…..or finish at least 3 of my current, overflow lipstick collection.
How do you do your peach lipstick?
