Thank you all for the love in the previous post, you guys are amazing and brightened up my day! My heart still aches and my brain’s still angry; believe me I would LOVE to share all the screenshots of the conversation that happened but got to keep my blog to a classy minimum! When someone promised you forever and failed the deliver and plan to stay in another country forever without discussing, it was a failed happy ending to begin with. Well, at least I got my blog and makeup collection to smile over; here’s a recent Fall-ish look I put together with makeup products I haven’t used in a while!
Summer Make Up Picks: June 2015 Edition
Last year in June, I did a “Summer Makeup Picks” post and I decided to do the same thing this year too because my makeup routine has changed a bit. I opted for the bronzey-pink look in 2014 but this year I am leaning towards the glowy and natural look.
CoverGirl The Super Sizer mascara+ intensify me! liquid liner
Eyes aren’t my best features, which is why I pretty much hide behind my glasses all the time. If there are any products to redefine the eyes, I’m on it! The new CoverGirl’s Super Sizer mascara and intensify me! liquid liner are supposed to catch people’s attentions with voluminous lashes and “dramatically defined eyes.” Let’s see if they claim to work as such…
CoverGirl Clean Glow Blusher in Peaches + What Should I Buy in London?
First things…I finally got a haircut! I pretty much look the same, but now I hope my hair doesn’t fall over my face when taking pictures! I was shopping at Walmart and came across a stand of CoverGirl Clean Glow Blushers. There were various colours such as “Roses,” and “spices,” and I settled with “Peaches (110).” The packaging is simple- just a plastic palm size case. The lid is fairly sturdy. It would’ve been great if there was a mirror, but for $7.96 for 12g of product. I wouldn’t expect too much fanciness, the point here is the product.
The blush is said to be a lightweight, blendable matte colour. There are three colours in the palette that can contour cheekbones- Peaches has a peachy-bronzer, a peach colour in the middle, and a lighter peach colour that can be used as a highlighter. I tried taking pictures in different lighting so you can gauge the colours. It is hard to take a swatch because these colours are very lightweight and not that pigmented.
The blusher is indeed lightweight, so much that I did have to use more product than usual with my other blushes, but it doesn’t feel cakey. However, if you pack on too much, it does cling on to dry patches of skin, so be sure to moisturize and prep before wearing the blush. This blush would be fantastic for oilier skin since it has a matte finish.
The blush does bring a soft flush to cheeks, as if you went running. The pigmentation is very light, so I use my brush to pack on the product densely.I like to swirl the bronze and the peach colours for the cheekbones, and then use the highlighter (light peach) colour alone.
I wore it for around 6 hours, and I still have a slight peach, bronze glow by the end of the day. This palette would be great for carrying around since it’s great for touch ups on the cheekbones throughout the day. Given the sheerness of the blush, it would show up better on fairer skin. It’s too bad that we can’t really swatch these in stores before purchasing.
If anyone has tried the other colours along the line, I’d love to hear what you think!
And… I’m off to London tomorrow! Do you have any suggestions on what kind of products I should buy there? 😀
Very tempted to splurge on a Burberry makeup product….and perhaps some Butter London nailpolishes..>_<
Geek Chic: Simple Look with Bold Glasses
It always sucks to be the one stuck in glasses while everyone looks fabulous glasses-less. I always get the feeling I’m looked over with them. I recently got purple ombre, thicker glasses frames, and I thought they would look fine..but when I got them WITH my lenses and I actually saw them clearly, I realized that they were a bit big for my face, and made my eyes look small! I was in a mini panic mode, and not that I can return my glasses either! Btw~ sorry for the not very hd, clear photos; will snap better shots in better lighting next time!!
I wanted to do a look for everyday or working- simple and doesn’t look caked on! I’m planning to do a series of them for different occasions, for all the glasses wearers out there!
Two things to remember: we want to make sure groomed brows are framing your frames, and make sure those eyebags are not extremely casted by the shadows of the frames!
Cover those eyebags! I use:

I first use Maybelline’s Dream Lumi (review here) to highlight, then I usually use Bare Minerals Well Rested concealer. For heavier coverage, I use Almay Wake Up Undereye Concealer (not the best product, does a mediocre job- but trying to finish it and dump it!) after highlighting, then pat some Bare Minerals on as “setting powder.” I have been using that pot of Bare Minerals Well Rested since 2009!
Next- define the eyes. Have small eyes? Delude people to make them bigger!

My glasses tends to cover half the eyeshadow- so if bolder colours would be deminished behind my lens. But as I am going for a quick simple look, all I do to brighten my eyes is apply Urban Decay Naked Palette’s Virgin from my outer crease into my browbone and Sin on my eyelids. I also like to put a bit of brown eyeshadow (Smog) into the crease as well. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a bit darker, the frames cover it! Oh- remember your primer if you worry your shadow won’t last all day!

Okay- open those eyes. I use Lancome’s Artliner, a cheaper alternative would be Essence liquid eyeliner (review for both here.) When I first wore my thick frames and used my Hypnose Doll lashes mascara, disaster struck! My eyelashes poked my glasses! I guess it should be great that I get long lashes, but it’s a nuisance! I opt for CoverGirl’s lashblast volume mascara instead. Volumnize those lashes, not lengthen. And because I wanted to open my eyes more, I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in stray dog to underline my eyes. I got this liner in a set during Christmas from a friend of mine last year- and I do believe you can’t buy it alone. It’s pretty much a taupey-brown eyeliner.
Next- I put on my glasses and do my cheeks and lips!

I skipped the foundation and primer and highlighter- since I’m going for a casual look 🙂
I put on glasses so I know where to put my blush! Blush is used to define the cheekbones, and prevent the face from looking flat. For a simple look, I’m using a light pink colour with Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface (review here.) For the lips, I use a sheer light pink colour- with NARS Lipstick in Roman Holiday (review here.) A cheaper alternative would be Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout.
And then the final look…

So I blame bad lighting, or a clearer picture would’ve been better! Also, tying your hair up in a half ponytail or full ponytail would show your face more!
Glasses peeps can dress up their face too! What do you think?
