Happy Year of the Ox! Normally by Chinese New Year, I would’ve had new slippers, a haircut, and maybe some new clothes. However, this year’s Chinese New Year is looking a bit less festive as it used to be, due to no gatherings and all that. I will miss going to Aberdeen Mall with my mom, which is what I usually do every Chinese New Year and buy random fun things from the vendors that put up their stalls. However, a little festive gift did end up in my mailbox – Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex in Large-Size Red Bottle and the Lips in Bloom – Pure Color Envy Lipstick Collection. The red! The gold chrysanthemums!
Whew, January is a month of eating…Dine Out Vanvouver, Hot Chocolate Festival, and The Urban Tea Merchant’s Lunar New Year Tea Service, a celebratory tea service prelude to the Chinese New Year (February 8!) As I grew up in a Chinese family, the Lunar New Year is a fun celebration and I remember having paper lanterns and such when I was a kid. As I get older, traditions usually revolve around food.
