In the midst of shopping with girlfriends, you always need a small break in between over food and conversation. My fellow other engineering friend and I went to Foodwares at the Bay in Downtown Vancouver for a light snack (some time last year, so this is a late post!) Foodwares is located near The Bay downstairs and they serve fresh made in house food daily!
They serve grilled food, soups, sandwiches, and paninis. They also have a lot of cakes on display!
We were hungry so we chose to share a “Artisan Grilled Panini” which comes with a (small) side garden salad. I don’t remember the exact price, but it was around $10, which is quite hefty for a panini and the size of it. Our panini consisted of herb poached chicken, topped with grilled zucchini, roasted peppers, brie cheese (originally goat cheese but we changed it) and baby argulua.
We chose to have pesto sauce with our chicken. As you can see, the sandwich is not a big portion, this is more of a snack size! However, the sauces seeped in with the chicken so you get layers of flavour upon each bite. It was also well toasted.
The salad was a bit on the bland side. It is similar to salad from Ikea or those side garden salads that come with any meal.
If you are looking for a quick meal in the downtown area at Pacific Centre, Foodwares is place to sit down in a spacious setting and eat silently or with friends. However, it is not a budget friendly restaurant- not a place I would pop by often! I really want to try the cakes though, perhaps another visit! 🙂
