Back to school, and I am finally glad to be in the last year of my undergrad! Hopefully by next April I will be proudly holding my Bachelor of Applied Sciences certificate! When I’m on campus, I look like crap 99% of the time, since I’m always in a rush waking up and going to class, and sleeping on average 5-6 hours/night. Sometimes, I meet up with friends after classes, and to prevent myself from looking total zombie-fied, I carry a few secret tricks around!
I’m going to share my mini kit that I always carry around, jam packed with things, to help me get by. My silver mini pouch is from Hong Kong, and it’s small and easy to carry. Small, but handy. Here it is, on top of my dorky backpack!

I always carry around bandaids with me, in case I encounter a clumsy moment, or for those who need one. Since I work in a lab sometimes, or for those hot sweaty days in the classroom, I carry some elastic hair ties (pack of 100 for $2 at a Japanese dollar store) and clips/bobby pins for clipping up my very long bangs. I realized that tying my hair half up makes a HUGE difference in appearance sometimes!
Throughout the day, my hands sometimes gets dry, my nose may get runny, and everything feels germy. I always keep some kind of cream, a pack of tissue, and hand sanitizer. I am using Japanese Cherry Blossom from Bath and Body Works, and it smells great! They always have 5 for $5 hand gel, and I had a coupon for $5 off, so I technically just paid tax! The hand cream I am using is H2O moisturizing body balm in Blushing Orange– got a pack of these in a gift. They’re small, and they smell deliciously fruity!
I need a mirror with me, and I’ve been carrying this little cookie shaped mirror since high school. It’s small, flat, compact, and cute! I get loads of compliments when I pull this little cookie right out! Another item I always use are blotting tissues. I got this pack for $2 from Daiso, and it’s pretty much just tissue paper lol! I didn’t know what they were until I opened it and I was like..I paid for tissue paper! Now I know, and sometimes I cut squares of tissue paper and refill the package! They’re cheap, and absorb facial oils efficiently!
I commute around 3 hours a day, and sometimes on the bus ride home, things can get a bit hot. It really smells like rotten eggs and socks and bananas on the bus, so I keep a little vial of sample perfume with me. Right now I have a sample vial of Oh, Lola! by Marc Jacobs. I think I got this from the Bay.
Now for makeup related stuff! I carry a little blush stick- Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in Poppy. It looks natural, and gives me a natural flush of colour. Very small, very convenient. I also carry a (free!) sample size Dior BB Creme, in case I get random redness around my face or I see pimples coming out, or I need some hydration on the skin, or some evening of the skin tone.
Last but not least, I do not leave ANYWHERE without my lip products. I have my lip balm- Nivea pure & natural Milk and Honey (review here) lip balm, Dior Lip Glow (review here), and Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment. I’m almost done with the Fresh Sugar Rose lip treatment, so I carry it around just trying to finish it. The lip glow is my new favourite thing in the whole world, so I shan’t part with it. And the lip balm is what I would slip in my pencil case during tests, and apply it liberally when needed.
I can’t live without carrying these, and use almost all of them on a daily basis (except for blush, bb cream, and bandaids). Everything fits into the little pouch and doesn’t weigh much in my backpack!
What necessities do you carry around?
