Winter Glam with Avon + mark.

I feel like I should share a really stupid thing I did when I was a kid since it’s almost Christmas. My mom had gifted me a picture book full of Christmas stories. The first story was about a boy who lost his glove, and there was a illustration of a glove flying in the air and the boy chasing after it. In that book, there’s a scissor incision across the page, because I wanted to cut the glove out and give it to the boy. Clearly, I was a genius when I was a kid eh?!

I also remember when I was really young, my mom had a bunch of Avon products that she bought from someone who did her facials. It is probably one of the first beauty brands I was ever exposed to but never really got into it, and it’s kind of cool to jump in on it again many years later.

NOOTD: Avon Speed Dry in Turquoise Pop

Pantone’s colour of the year is emerald. I’ve always been a fan of then green shade. Recently, I ordered Avon speed dry nail enamel in “Turquoise Pop” from my friend’s sister, who is an Avon representative. After coating one nail of this, I was in love with the colour. Although it is not exactly an emerald colour, but the cool green colour looked lush on my nails. Spring is around the corner, and this colour was a perfect match for the sunny Vancouver weather we are having nowadays!

One coat is good enough to cover the nail. I highly recommend a top coat after this because this formula chips much easier than the other ones I have tried. However, the colour of this nail polish helps me look past the lesser quality formula.

NOOTD: Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy – Orbit from Revlon Selects

Awhile ago, Revlon Canada had a program called “Revlon Selects”- where a number of people in Canada were chosen to receive some new Revlon products to try and test and review! I’m sorry it took forever for me to go through them, due to lack of time!! These products included are Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Backstage, Revlon PhotoReady Primer + Shadow in Metropolitan, Revlon Nail File, Revlon Nail Art MOON CANDY, and and Revlon Nail Art EXPRESSIONIST.

Today I want to show you Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy. This series of Nail Art features two types of polishes in a double lidded tube. One colour is a solid, creamy colour; and the other side is are flakes of glitter. I received a purple combination of colours which is 280 Orbit.

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy™ allows you to get a gorgeous, iridescent effect inspired by outer space. The holographic glitter top coat is illuminated by the dark cream base coat, giving your nails a multi-dimensional look. The dual-ended package gives you everything you need to create a fun, cosmic look.

I do wish the brush of the polish was a little bit smaller as I was a bit messy in applying the polish. I love the pale purple glitter and it looks out of this world with the creamy polish, but several coats are needed to cover the nails with the glitter. The brush does not pick up enough of the flakes.

I definitely like the multi dimensional look of this and the nails reflect beautifully upon light. I added two coats of the holographic glitter top coat and a clear top coat (Avon) to smooth out the nitty grittiniess of the glitter. It looks like a dark blue under the top coat.

NOOTD: Avon’s Orchid Splash

During Christmas, my friend gave me some AVON nail polish. This is my first time trying nail polish from this brand. Two of the colours I have used are – Avon nailwear pro+ nail enamel in Orchid Splash and UV gloss guard top coat.

Avon’s nailwear pro+ nail polish is “fortified with acrylic gel for strength and Dura-Plus Complex.” Orchid Splash is a pink colour (with a tinge of purple). Two coats of it give an opaque, shiny finish under normal light. However, if I put my nails up to a light source, I can still see some transparencies; but that will rarely happen in public. Afterwards, I put a layer of the UV gloss guard top coat. The top coat has built in sun protection that is supposed to prevent yellowing and fading.

Wearing this polish for 4 days so far; I noticed minimal wear and tear and the glossy shine is still noticeable! This nail polish actually outlasts longer than my other ones, and I didn’t use a base coat. Sometimes I’ve noticed my Essie chipping after 2-3 days, so I am quite impressed with Orchid Splash. The nailwear pro+ line claims that it can last up to 12 days of colour- let’s hope it’s true!

This is a great summer colour, although I’m wearing it in the winter still!
