My skin seems to be getting drier as I age and so I went into a small body oil craze. Last year my collections of body oils went from 0 to…10? 15? There are many that I sorted out that did not work for me ( *ahem* Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate) and then there’s some that I’ve had sitting in my room/bathroom for a while now that I never mentioned- Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil Light, Caudalie Divine Oil, and Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil. None of these are full sized, mini bottles of everything always wins!!
Wild Argan Oil Line from The Body Shop
If your skin is dry as sandpaper (*raising my hand*), look no further than the Wild Argan Oil Line from The Body Shop. I’ve always been a huge fan of body products at The Body Shop, namely the shea butter line, so when I heard about the Wild Argan Oil, I knew my skin needed a taste of it. I’ve used argan oil in hair before, and I love how it is now incorporated into various forms of beauty products from different brands.
Hair Fix: Macadamia Natural Oil’s Healing Oil Treatment
It is no surprise that many uses Moroccanoil on their hair, or other natural products such as extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, argan oil, or almond oil. Unfortunately, I don’t have the natural products at home, but I recently picked up a little 7mL bottle of Macadamia Natural Oil’s Healing Oil Treatment for $4.95 at Richmond Centre’s Zennkai. I tried it on towel-dried hair before blow-drying, and it was amazing!

Inside is a transparent oil, and it smells quite pleasant. I put a nickle sized amount on my palms, rub my palms, then put my hands in my hair from scalp to the ends. I have tons of split ends, and I’m hoping my hair would look less frayed on the bottom. I noticed that when I blew dry my hair, it dried a bit quicker than usual, and it was very soft and straight. I was amazed how soft my thick, coarse hair was.

My hair is naturally straight, but the layered ends of my hair are starting to be extremely messy and all over the place frizzy. I’m quite liking this product in its tiny bottle. Paying $4.95 for a small travel sized seems fair, although I’m sure the bigger size is more expensive. *sigh* Has anyone tried the Macadamia Natural Oil Line?
Products of the Week: My Mascara Combo (Dior + Josie Maran)
With all the school work going on, I realized I missed two “product of the week” posts, so I’m going to review/combine two products today. Recently, I have been using a combination of Dior’s Lash Plumping Serum with Jose Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Mascara, that I got in a 500 point perk pack awhile ago.
1) Dior Diorshow Maximizer: Lash Plumping Serum
I got this in my Sephora VIB haul two week ago, and this have been my favourite item I bought. It can be used as a lash primer that prevents mascara from clumping or messing up. I’ve had stellar results so far, as it separates each of my lashes evenly. One time I woke up in the morning, my lashes even seemed to be “lifted up” too!
2) Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Mascara
I got this in a 500 point perk last summer and I never recently started using it until now. What I like is that my lashes look natural, not monstrously long or that I’ve-tried-too-hard look. I prefer looking natural most of the time ( I rarely wear makeup to school and such) but this mascara made my eyes look less dull. It also has argan oil that makes lashes healthier and more nourished as well.
To achieve the best results, I first curl my lashes with Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. It was one of my first beauty-must-haves, before I even gotten to makeup. I don’t think I can go back to another eyelash curler.
The whole process takes me one minute to put on!

You’re right, it’s the picture on the right! (I apologize for my dark eye circles/puffy eyes.)
Do you swear by any brands/combinations of mascara? I’d love to hear your thoughts and even other product recommendations!
Product of the Week: Josie Maran Argan Oil
Lately, my hair has been getting a bit frizzled. I have been trying to hunt down some hair products that can cure my split ends, and then I remembered I traded my 500 Sephora beauty points for a Josie Maran sample package which included a bottle containing 100% pure Argan Oil.

The oil is grown in Morocco, and it contains Vitamin E and fatty acids. It is a multi-tasking product- you can use it to soften skin, nourish hair, and smooth cuticles. It is supposed to give your skin a youthful, dewy glow PLUS it has anti aging and healing properties. This is pretty analogous to Harry Potter’s bottle of Felix Felicis for girls. (This product is not formulated with any chemicals or parabens either!)
What I use it for:
- Hair: I noticed a considerable amount of split ends, and dry frizzy ends of my hair due to too much straightening. I use the dropper and put 2-3 drops on my fingers and rub it in the ends of my hair. The ends of my hair feel “straighter” and more alive, and definitely softer!
- Hands: My hands are consistently dry, especially around the nails! I like to drop a bit of argan oil on my palms, then squeeze some lotion and mix it in my hands. I notice immediate hydration.
I haven’t tried this on my face yet, since I’m not sure how my face would react to it. However, I am perfectly happy with the product being used mainly for my hair. It is expensive, $14 USD for 0.5 oz, or $48USD for 1.7 oz at Sephora.
The size I received is perfect, since it can be easily carried around for shopping. Although I received only 0.5 oz, I use it a little bit at at time, so this product lasts for a while!
