Whew, January is a month of eating…Dine Out Vanvouver, Hot Chocolate Festival, and The Urban Tea Merchant’s Lunar New Year Tea Service, a celebratory tea service prelude to the Chinese New Year (February 8!) As I grew up in a Chinese family, the Lunar New Year is a fun celebration and I remember having paper lanterns and such when I was a kid. As I get older, traditions usually revolve around food.
I’ve been featuring a lot of Christmas beauty products on here (and more to come,) but let’s not forget about the food during the holidays! I recently visited The Urban Tea Merchant in Downtown Vancouver to taste their Festive Tea Service and had a sneak peek of their Christmas teas from TWG Tea.
Remember last Autumn when inexperienced Chef Macarons & Mischief used Samuel Adams beer to make Pumpkin Spiced cupcakes? Some cool foodie Vancouver events (we have quite a bit of those don’t we?) are happening soon; The Ultimate Lobster Experience. We’ve seen wine pairings at fine dinging places and tea pairings from at afternoon teas, but beer pairings are often overlooked! If you are a beer kinda gal (or guy) then maybe this event is for you!
Being in Vancouver has its ups and downs, but nevertheless, I love this city and I still have MUCH more to explore here (I still haven’t hiked anywhere but the Grouse Grind #fail.) One thing that kind of prevents me from doing more Vancouver exploring is that getting around is slightly of a hassle…commuting here isn’t the best and I’m just a horrible driver. So having box of Vancouver coming to my house? YES- and here we have the Vancity Box.
I have to thank Instagram for introducing me to many new dessert places. Richmond just used to have a plethora of Asian food and semi decent food of other cultures and recently there has been an explosion of dessert spots, and I’m not complaining. Bubble waffles are one of my favourite snacks to munch when I’m out and about (so hard to get a hold of them now,) and when I knew there was a place to get over glorified bubble waffles at this placed called The BBT Shop in Richmond…well I must check that out.
