My social media has been snail paced lately…apologies…can I put the blame on growing a human being? Now that I have some time to myself pre-arrival of the baby; I would love to talk about skincare/haircare products while I still have time on my maternity leave!! Canadian brand, Clayton Shagal, has been part of my skincare routine (and body care too!) for some time.
I’ve used their original Milk Cleanser in the past; however, I’ve been just as pleased with their reformulated Milk Cleanser ($42) which contains Meadowfoam Seed Oil. To be honest, I typically do not need a strong cleanser as my skin is on the dry side and with the lack of going out, I’m mostly makeup free. However the odd time here and there when I do have a face of makeup (such as when I did a maternity shoot and had professional makeup done,) I was very happy to have this cleanser for a really quick cleanse without feeling dried out! Other ingredients include cocoa butter, Vitamin E, and glycerin.

I always follow a good facial cleanse with hydration. I always use some type of serum before the moisturizer. The Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($95) has a nice viscous texture that gets absorbed in the skin quickly. It has three different molecular weights – low weight to moisturize and penetrate all the way to the dermis; the medium weight helps stimulate cells and protects the skin, and high weigh to penetrate throughout the skin’s stratum corneum.
For night time use, the Idratense Cream ($95) provides hydration with little amount. As it is on the thicker side and it has a scent, I prefer to use it before bed strictly. Key ingredients include – acetyl dipeptide which provides a “lifting effect,” hyaluronic acid, Vitamin E, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Artemia Extract (acts as a cell regenerator). Of course, I can’t really say for sure on its anti-aging effect yet, but my skin has been smooth lately and I’ve had no major skin issues during my pregnancy! This cream is quite intense (as it is almost in the name itself) in the moisturizer scale so it may not be everyone’s preference.
First off- I appreciate that Clayton Shagal’s Moisturizing Mask ($46) comes in a tube rather than a container so I don’t need to use a spatula. It has a thick, goopy, gel texture that provides a natural cooling effect. I love how you can use this ALL over the face including the eye contour! This is super refreshing after a hot shower and left my skin feeling very prepped!
Apart from skincare, Clayton Shagal makes amazing body care products. This is the second tube of Body Cream ($39) and Jojoba & Loofa Body Gel ($43) I’ve gone through. My husband been using the body gel more than me as he loves the light fragrant scent and exfoliating sensation with it. It is certainly more of a luxurious body product to splurge one, but it really made me love my shower routine! What I enjoy for the body cream is that it’s not scented and the ingredients are the focus here. Its ingredients include glycerin, cocoa butter, and Vitamin E and has no sticky feeling. This is something I just slather on before going to bed.
And to finish off, the ultra moisturizing Hand Cream ($15) is a great gift to yourself or anyone else who loves self care. There is no scent to this hand cream and can be used on the feet as well – I’ve been using it on my soles as I like how there’s no tacky texture to it.
Overall – I love this Canadian made brand focuses on tackling skincare issues rather than filling products with fragrances and jamming a bunch of “it” ingredients in them. The skincare price point is a bit on the higher side, however, so is the quality. You can find Clayton Shagal products on their website or use the salon/spa locator as well!
