I take really, really hot showers and sometimes when I come out, my foot is especially crazy itchy. We all have dry skin during the winter but the allergens that come up during the summer has made my skin extra parched. I received CeraVe Moisturizing Cream earlier this year and between constant hand washing and hay fever, and it has played a big part in my body care routine.
CeraVe products are developed by dermatologists and known for containing three vital ceramides – ceramides 1, 3, and 6-II. It also has hyaluronic acid and patented time-release MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology (MVE,) where moisturizing ingredients are released layer by layer to provide constant hydration.
The Moisturizing Cream comes in a few sizes -57g, 227g, 453, and 539g. Looking at the Shoppers Drug Mart website; the prices are: $7.99, $19.99, $25.99, and $27.99 respectively. Plus, they go on sale – it’s great if you want to stock up and earn extra points!
I wanted to note that there is dimethicone (silicone based product) in the ingredient list – which some people are opposed to or have breakouts/reactions from it. I haven’t had issues with it and have a few products at home that also contains silicones.
Ingredient list:
Aqua, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Dimethicone, Petrolatum, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Potassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum.
If you can tell from the photo; the big tube (227g) have is looking a bit deflated as it has been used almost daily. The cream feels extra hydrating after taking a hot bath. It also has no scent of fragrance for it, making it a great choice for people who have sensitive noses. As it is a cream, it has a a heavy texture, but there is no oiliness or tackiness when applied to skin. You can liberally put it on and and not worry about wearing jeans or something like that after! I’ve been focusing on my feet as I don’t pay nearly enough attention to it and my ankles are feeling much softer.
It can also be used on the face, but my experience is only using it on the body. Personally, I prefer using dedicated skincare products on the face as I rotate between serums, brighteners, anti-aging products, etc. Overall, CeraVe has been working well as my to-go, no nonsense, no frills body cream that does what I expect it to do!
CeraVe products can be purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart, well.ca, Jean Coutou, London Drugs, Amazon, and Walmart.
