I went to Ikea the other day and couldn’t decide, should I wear real pants or leggings? Do I even bother with makeup? Did I even brush my teeth? As time drags on, I really stopped giving a f about my public self image LOL. That being said, the self care never ends at home- I’ve upped my bath game and curl my hair for zoom meetings. My bathtub is lined with various different shower and hair products, including the newly launched Mario Badescu’s Rose Body Soap. Released in January 2021, this new rose body wash is here to enhance your shower experience to make you feel clean, hydrated, and smelling wonderful.
If you aren’t familiar with Mario Badescu, they are well known for their Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater ($7 USD or $11 CAD for 118mL.) I feel like this has been around since I was in university…which is almost 10 years ago! I have a few of these and they are perfect for the midday refresher if you are feeling tired and dehydrated. Being at home has been drying out my body (inside AND out) so hydration is so important!!!
If you prefer using toner on a cotton pad, the Witch Hazel & Rosewater Toner ($14 USD or $18CAD for 236mL) is another option if you have combination skin. It has astringent properties without drying the skin and the rosewater scent is very refreshing. The one time this toner did “burn” me; I had really bad allergies and kept blowing my nose, so the skin around my nose was very dry and sensitive. I used the toner on my face and everything felt fine except for the extremely dry areas. This toner is better suited for combination or normal skin types.
I’ve mentioned their Lip Balm in my previous post, but did you know there was a Rose Lip Balm ($8 USD) as well? It makes a great lip mask due to its thicker texture and it’s great for the colder weather. It contains a blend of butters and oils such as Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil.
The Rose Body Soap ($8 USD – I cannot find a Canadian price for this!) is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate free! Because of this, the lather is a lot lighter but a little bit will last a long way. It is infused with Rosewater and Rose Oil and it smells amazing!! There is a delicate sweet scent or roses that isn’t overpowering. There is also added parfum (fragrance) in it but hopefully in small quantities as it’s low on the ingredient list.
Packaging wise, I love how you can just flick a nozzle up on top of the bottle cap to squeeze out the soap (same as the toner.) I prefer this over opening a cap or pumping out the product. I find caps get clogged with soap scum and with pumps, you never get the last bit of product. After taking a bath, I love using this body soap to cleanse my skin of any leftover bath bomb residue.
Now all I wish is a rose body lotion to finish off my shower experience!
Mario Badescu products can be purchased online or at Sephora, Urban Outfitters.
Note: It seems that the Rose Body Soap may not be available at Canadian retailers yet – but will update my page when I find where it can be purchased within Canada!
