One common thing my friends and I complain about is having a sore back, sore neck etc! Especially when most of us are working from home and sitting on a rigid chair ( IKEA dining chair for me,) the whole backside of me is as stiff as a surfboard. I have a few items at home to relieve my muscles such as an electric neck massager or a lacrosse ball for the tight areas. Recently I received a few products from The Original Magic Bag, a company specializing in hot/cold therapeutic packs. Plus, their products are made in Canada!
My Registered Massage Therapist has always told me that my neck/shoulder area muscles are super tight and she has to do some skin rolling thing to loosen it up. She recommended a heat pack and putting it on the tight areas for around 20 minutes. When I received The Neck-To-Back Magic Bag ($29.99 CAD), I knew this was exactly what I needed!
It is a U-Shape compress to slip your neck and have heat on both side of your shoulders, or wrap it around your back. You can either microwave it for a maximum of 2 minutes or put in the fridge for four hours. I’ve only used it for heat and it lasts for around 30 minutes as described. The only downside is that oats are used as the stuffing and it has a slight earthy-brown-rice smell. After a few minutes I got used to it. Nevertheless, I’ve enjoyed it and throw it on me when I’m working at home. Definitely can’t do that in the office!
The other product I’ve been using is the Magic Bag Warmy ($14.99 CAD). This is Ollie the Owl and you do not have to be a child to enjoy this!! There is a removable insert to microwave/fridge the packet. This one is filled with rice and smells a bit better than the Neck-To-Back Magic Bag. I love how flat it is because I can put this guy in my hoodie pocket or tuck it inside my sweatpants. The other day my stomach was hurting, so I heated Ollie on a plate and lied down with this guy for 30-45 minutes.
I used to use Japanese disposable stick on heat warmers, and I am so, so glad I have an option where it’s reusable! Again, another great thing to keep on me for any period pains, stress-induced stomache pains (I get that a LOT) when I’m working at home. Heck, I may even bring this with me when I go back in the office!
Lastly, meet Alix the Magic Bag Lamb ($21.99 CAD). This is probably best for children as you can snuggle with it, while Ollie the Owl is more flat. Alix is filled with hypoallergenic rice and is used to either warm you up or cool you down like the other products in the Original Magic Bag line. This is also registered as a medical device as per Health Canada, which is neat. I may be saving for this my future child when he or she comes along LOL.
The cool thing is that all of these products are compostable! As per the website, they can be compostable after 100 uses; I hope I can use them for much longer but we will see! Magic Bags are designed and assembled in Anjou, Quebec and the packaging is also printed in Montreal. With the products I have at home plus the addition of The Original Magic Bag products, I have a pretty good arsenal of muscle and stomach pain relieving products! What do you use at home for aches and pains?
You can purchase The Magic Bag online or at pharmacies across Canada.
