Anyone been massively online shopping since March and the rate of staying at home accelerated by 500%? I definitely got carried away with buying online anything for the last little while, and the way we have been doing things are shifting. I’ve been working from home since March, so I am going a bit home-loopey. I miss my fresh coffee during walks, but I’m grateful that I can be at home and can work remotely. The one thing I do miss most is definitely travelling. I miss new places, new food, and new culture. And spas, I had two spa dates lined up and then cancelled. In comes Beauty Sense, a Montreal based spa that offers spa quality products online. AND they’re Canadian! Treating myself with spa products is what I will be doing and the only thing that is preventing me from looking like a tired slug on the couch.
When I say spa, probably massages and facials come to mind. However, I think hair deserves some luxury treatment too, especially since getting a haircut is not the same anymore. (And have I mentioned I wash my hair around 3-4 times a week now?) Let’s run down my recent spa at home products!
Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo ($59 CAD)
This is the Harry Potter’s felix felicis of hair shampoo. It actually looks like liquid gold and only a little amount is needed for a good lather. The scent is luxurious, not overpowering, and smells like its sole purpose is to give you fantastic hair.
Ingredients include: Argan oil, Maracuja oil, Mediterranean Cypress Extract, and its Oribe Signature Complex (Watermelon, Lychee and Edelweiss Flower Extracts.) With the price tag, it definitely isn’t an everyday shampoo (or it could be for you!) but it makes my hair feel rejuvenated. I skip the conditioner after using this and my hair feels equally as soft.
Eminence Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel ($44 CAD)
My haircut salon has a spa section that specifically offers this as a facial for $65; and now I can have the same experience at home! The Eminence Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel is a mish mash (literally) of Yam Pulp Puree and Pumpkin Pulp Puree, along with pineapple, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid (5%,) papaya, and Willowbark Extract.
Only a very thin layer is needed for exfoliation. It does burn a bit, but my skin doesn’t experience any redness or breakouts after. As you can expect, this concoction smells delicious and pumpkin-y! For the days where my skin needs a deep purge, this is my go to. It also comes with a little scoop/spatula to help apply the mask on.
Skeyndor MyMask Fruit Jam ($68.50)
If I had my eyes closed, I too would have thought this mask is literally a fruit jam. This one also has glycolic acid, but it is much more gentler. It contains plant extracts (blue berries, sugar cane, orange, lemon, maple) to rejuvenate the skin and strawberry seeds for gentle exfoliation. A cellulose sponge is included to clean the face afterwards. It has a light peeling effect and my skin feels very refreshed after.
Dr Hauschka: Night and Active Kit ($29.50)
Lastly, the Dr.Hauschka: Night and Active Kit is great to try out Dr.Hauschka or bring it with you to your next getaway. The kit comes with:
- Soothing Cleansing Milk (10ml)
- Cleansing Cream (10ml)
- Facial Toner (10ml)
- Night Serum (2.5ml)
- Revitalising Mask (5ml )
I’ve gone through a few bottles of their Facial Toner before and love the mini travel version. It’s one of the best sprayed toners that I’ve used. The Night Serum is also gave my skin a great radiant glow (and smells amazing with apple blossom extract,) and I’m considering purchasing the full size of this sometime! I only wish there was a moisturizer instead of two different types of cleansers so others can have the full skincare routine treatment.
Overall, the selection of skincare products on Beauty Sense is vast and it definitely focuses on products you can find at a spa. There are brands I never heard of and brands on my wishlist, such as Aesop and Antipodes! I am happily masking away with softer hair and thanks to Beauty Sense, my skincare routine got elevated.
