How long has it been since my last lipstick post?! I’ve tried many different brands of lipsticks before, and I can’t believe I haven’t used Laura Mercier lip products before! The Laura Mercier Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick ($42 CAD) recently arrived at the door and one of the reds, Rouge Profond is perfect for the Autumn transition.
There are a whopping 30 shades of the Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick range. The lipsticks are infused with Mediterranean Sea algae extract to moisturize and smooth the lips’ appearance and Micronized coated pigments to provide good pigmentation. It also has a “custom curved bullet” to have the lips fit within the contours and delivers easy application with one swipe.
First, the packaging is in a sleek gunmetal rectangular case with a magnetic cap. All four sides of the lipstick case acts as a decent mirror to check if your lipstick application is on point, which I find pretty handy.
The colours I have on trial are: Rogue Profond, Rose Decadent, and Coral Vif. I find that the Rouge Profond and Rose Decadent stays a bit better and covers the lip lines, possibly because it’s darker? Coral Vif highlights the dry spots on my lips a lot more. All the Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipsticks have a satin finish, and I do find the formula very comfortable to wear!
My lips don’t feel dry after a few wears. It does wear off a bit between meals, but the colour stays after eating and using a napkin. Rogue Profond, for me, has the longest lasting power.
Coral Vif: Perhaps I am getting a bit older, I feel like bright colours don’t look as natural on me as it used to! Or perhaps it is more suited when I’m ready to get some sun instead of feeling the chilly fall.
Rose Decadent: This is a fail proof, lush pink colour that I find suitable for any time, any day.
Rouge Profond: My favourite of the three, it makes my lip shape look a lot better than it is and minimal makeup required as this lipstick does all the talking!
You can find Laura Mercier lipsticks online or instores at Sephora.
