I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve talked about Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks on here – two years ago I talked about how much I loved mine on here. Since then, they have been relaunched and there’s three finishes for every shade including the original, brilliant, and velvet. A while ago I attended a Clarins event and received the shade three different Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in the shade 742 – the perfect shade for a classic red lip (and for my office Christmas party!)
The three types of Joli Rouge lipsticks ($29 CAD) are satin, glossy, and velvet – on the lipstick they are labelled with a letter or no letter such as as 742, 742S, and 742 respectively.
The satin (742) lipsticks is enriched with organic Salicornia extract and mango oil. It leaves a creamy finish. The pigmentation is intense and super fun to put on because it makes my lips look more ‘lip shaped’ and hides the duckness of it. Quack.
The red definitely does transfer on my coffee cups but the colour still stays on for a good few hours!
Matte lipsticks aren’t my go to, but the Joli Rouge Velvet is BEAUTIFUL. I actually like this more than the satin finish due to its lipstick’s plushiness. The weather has been cold lately and my lips have been nothing short of dry, but the 742V masks the dry bits quite nicely. Have not felt such a comfortable matte lipstick for a while! The velvet line of lipsticks contain apricot tree and glasswort.
If bold, intense pigmented lipsticks is not what you are looking for, there is the Joli Rouge Brilliant. These lipsticks uses fine pearls for a glossy effect and a Shine Booster+ complex to add reflection. This is a more ‘safer’ lipstick and perhaps not as fun as the Velvet. Out of the three, it feels the most moisturizing, however, the wear of these is definitely a lot faster.
Hopefully this gives you a brief overview between the different types of Clarins Joli Rouge lipsticks! A while ago I’d definitely thought I’m a ‘brilliant’ or satin lipstick, but the velvet finish actually takes first place for me this time. Though, if I tried a different colour my opinion may differ.
