I thought I couldn’t get lazier in Spring but summer is here. I’ve been falling apart for a while and lost a bit of interest in makeup, but the Clarins Sunkissed Summer 2018 collection did wake me up again!! I need some inspiration and part of me almost want to start doing a points/lifestyle blog, but that’s just in the very, very wee back of my mind right now. All I want is more sleep and products to make me less dull (hence I’ve been SUPER into skincare lately but that will be for a future blog post.)
The Summer 2018 collection design is set against Florida’s palm trees with the buzzing energy of Miami. I am missing Florida right now as I’d love to just jet back to Orlando and walk through Wizarding World of Harry Potter and eat some Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwiches at DisneyWorld. *sigh*
The limited edition Bronzing Compact ($42 CAD) comes in a palm sized case with flamingo and palm tree prints – outside AND inside. It contains extracts of white tea and nipplewort which helps protects the skin from pollution and harsh radicals. The compact is like an ombre of three different matte shades of brown and is very buildable from a natural sunkissed look to a heavier bronze. At one point I layered it too much and it looked like I painted some war paint on myself; so a light hand is all you need!
The newest shade of Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil ($25) in Blackberry but do not fear this deep purple shade! It adds a hint of purpley-pink and smells so delicious, just like the blackcurrant Asian candies that I enjoyed as a child (who I am kidding, I still love eating them.) The oils have always done a great job of hydrating my lips while making them look plump too. I’m glad that over the years, Clarins has added more shades to this line.
It could be a bit sticky if you swipe it all in one go on the lips, which is a tad bit heavy for summer. I prefer to dab a bit on the lips and then use my finger to move the colour around to make it look even and feeling less heavy (the last thing I want is to walk into a tiny fly and then have it stuck on my lips. Tried that before.) It adds SUCH a pretty colour though so I’m willing to apply it in a more inconvenient way.
Here I am wearing the Bronzing Compact and the Lip Comfort Oil in Blackberry – see how it adds a slight, non intimidating tint to my lips! (AND OMG you can see my white hair that I inherited from my mom…and I am too lazy to photoshop that out.)
I’ve talked about SOS primers before and there is a new one in the shade 06 Bronze ($39 CAD). It looks a bit scary compared to the light skintone on my arm when I squeeze it out, but once spread across the face, it just feels like a lightweight tinted moisturizer without looking cakey. I feel like I am a bit too light to wear it as a full on primer so I use it as a liquid bronzer.
For those who want their makeup to be as compact as possible, the 4 Colour All-in-One Pen ($35 CAD) is prepared to add colour to your eyes and lips. The four colours are black, emerald green, bright pink, and plum. The colours are super fun and pigmented. If you go too gentle on the eyes, it is hard to get a good line going so I do have to use a bit of force.
The plum is definitely a fun colour to use as an eyeliner, and I’d go for emerald if I want to match my outfit or go for something different. I am mostly enchanted by the pink colour as it adds a really nice colour to the lips and keeps them in good shape without feathering!
I am wearing the 4 Colour All-in-One Pen on my eyes and lips and the pigmentation is pretty amazing! As I mentioned, I don’t really like applying it on my eyes as it’s just not as smooth as a liquid eyeliner, but I can’t deny that it’s a very convenient and compact makeup product. The SOS Primer in 06 Bronze is also on my cheeks, can you see the hint of that ‘sunkissed glow’?
I also like how the collection gives you a good range of makeup looks that can be worn either day or night, for a date or fighting a knight. I hope they take the bright plum shade in the 4-Colour-All-in-One-Pen and make it into a lip pencil or something because it’s such a fun and wearable shade of pink.
Is there anything from the Sunkissed Collection that you would purchase?
