I have so many Pixi goodies to go through it’s not even funny. And yep, I know summer is over.
But, sriously- thank you to the Pixi gods who have supplied me with so many goodies. I’m still cherry picking through them and today I want to talk about 4 (4.5?) that full under the ‘summer makeup essentials’ category. My skin likes to go all cray during the summer on me so I haven’t been wearing as much makeup as I want to. Like I want to wear a few layers of foundation and silicone primer and green primer to hide my blemishes but that crap got to breathe too..*rolls me eyes*
I received four products from Pixi to achieve that ‘effortless’ look. These include:
- Pixi Nourishing Lip Polish
- Makeup Fixing Mist
- Multibalm
- Quick Fix Powder
The Makeup Fixing Mist ($15 CAD), infused with rose water and green tea, has a refreshing rose scent that definitely isn’t too strong. Although it’s meant to be worn to prolong makeup, I kind of use it as a toner or spray it throughout the day to stay hydrated and refreshed. I don’t wear enough makeup to notice if the mist actually prevented the makeup from melting off my skin, but I didn’t look any worse over time. You can also mist directly on the makeup brush and apply your makeup on to prolong wear. Although I haven’t noticed it making it my foundation last especially longer, it does feel very nice on the skin and refreshing during the summer. Plus, the price is quite reasonable compared to other makeup setting sprays!
The first product that caught my eye was the Nourishing Lip Polish ($12.) My lips flake off in chunks and I’d LOVE to exfoliate them on the go – like in the work bathroom which I’ve done at times. I gotta exfoliate fast though so people coming in won’t think I’m weird – even though they probably don’t really give two cents what I’m exfoliating. The Lip Polish comes in a tube form and the applicator has small bristles so it gets rid of dead skin and also stimulate circulation. While buffing your lips with it, the Lip Polish doubles as a lip gloss! The formula contains shea butter, sweet almond oil, apricot oil, and evening primrose oil.
Although I LOVE the convenience of having a lip exfoliator in this size, I feel like it’s a bit weaker than other exfoliators I’ve tried. I like my grainy and rough, and the Nourishing Lip Polish is a lot more gentle. If you have giant chunks of flaking lips (ew, yes, that’s me,) then you might need a stronger dose.
The Multibalm ($12 CAD) is a cream to powder stick that can be used on the face or lips. It’s infused with aloe vera, shea butter, and rose hip oil. The shade I received is Baby Petal, a soft salmon pink shade. While it looks good on the cheeks, I didn’t get much colour of it for the lips (there’s a photo of me wearing it at the bottom of the post, but it doesn’t really look like I have any lip products on.) I’m not much of a cheek and lip all in one product kind of person anyway, so this one is a pass for me.
I LOVE the Quick Fix Powder ($20.) My favourite of the four. It looks scary white at first but when puffed on the skin, you skin looks matte but not like the 2-D kind of skin. My skin looks so much more flawless when I apply it in the end. The neat thing is that it has a white cotton thing and you can buff the powder (which is at the bottom of the container,) so you don’t have to carry a makeup brush. The con- it can get kind of dirty. My applicator puff thing is looking a bit yellow now after using it over foundation. Now that my skin improved a bit, I wear it alone for a ‘flawless’ finish.
The packaging is a bit bulky but I carry a giant purse anyway!
My complexion looked so much more radiant after using the Pixi goodies on my face; though I probably would use something else either than the Multibalm for a bit more colour.
In one of my previous blogger mail packages, I received a few of the GelTint & Silk Gloss – a duo lip product that is a lip stain on one side, and a gloss on the other. If you have extremely cracky lips, lip stains are not the usual route I go for a long lasting lip colour. On a good day, I’ll try it. The stain is still a bit blotchy on me but the gloss evens it out. I’m wearing the shade PinkTint & PrettyGloss over the Multibalm, so it made me look a bit more awake! It feels nice to not wear much heavy makeup nowadays #gettingold!
Overall, I am impressed with Pixi products that make your skin look great and natural – and I have a few more things to share that do that soon! The Quick Fix Powder is my to-go product since it’s easy to put on as you have an applicator-mirror in one package.
