I haven’t seen any cherry blossom trees yet but the spring products are already rolling in! Dior launched a few new shades for their Rouge Dior Matte Lipstick collection on January 15. I’ve only been familiar with the Dior Addict lipsticks and the Rouge Dior certainly takes luxury lipstick packaging to a new level!
Rouge Dior Matte Lipsticks ($43 CAD) are in a black case with silver patterned details that makes the bullet look very classy and upscale. “CD” is monogrammed on top of the lid and inside the cap is a red colour; which is the colour of Dior’s Rouge 999 lipstick. It’s like the Christian Louboutin of lipstick (ignoring the fact that the brand has their own lipstick now.)
Distinct Matte is a brown-nude shade and unfortunately a colour I’d never see myself wearing because I can’t pull it off for places I’m mostly am, aka at work. Absolute Matte is absolutely gorgeous and it’s a deep, brick red that looks pretty as a stain or a statement red lip.
As you can see, Distinct Matte didn’t really apply evenly; you can see some unevenness in the colour on me and I was already too lazy to fully saturate my lips with this brown shade. Absolute Matte is very classy and I love wearing it while running around doing errands like a boss. I find that both formulas are quite creamy and isn’t a full fledged matte – which is probably why I like it a lot more than a typical matte lipstick.
I only wore the shade Absolute Matte out and the colour lasted for a good few hours; though it’s not transfer proof- you WILL get a lipstick stain on that coffee lid. The lipstick didn’t dry out my lips and I like how it made the shape of my lips nicely defined. However, the formula is comparable to Clinique Pop Matte Lip Colour (and it’s also half the price,) but you are paying for the luxury of a Dior lipstick packaging.
You can purchase Rouge Dior lipsticks at Sephora in stores or online.
