Less than two weeks until Christmas!! Unfortunately, my mind has been trying to get rid of my cough and throat infection and getting through work (yup, got to work through the holidays.) But…let’s take a break and admire the Burberry Festive Collection that came out for the holiday season.
I have only been familiar with Burberry lipsticks instead of their glosses. Burberry Kisses Gloss ($31 CAD) gives your lips that wet look without making them super plump (thank goodness!) I haven’t worn glosses for a while since my lips are already on the fuller side and plumpiness is the last thing I wanted. One of the limited edition colours for the Festive Collection is No. 117 Paradise Red is a cranberry shade that can be worn alone (needs 2-3 coats for opaqueness) or over a lipstick to make a red lip dewy.
Paradise Red was on the sticky side for me though, as I can practically feel my hair almost being drawn to it like a magnet when the wind is about. No. 124 Gold Shimmer is not as sticky, suprsingly! I was actually very skeptical of the Gold Shimmer shade as I don’t like shimmer flecks on my lips and I don’t want to look like I’m cosplaying as an Oscar statue. But ermagahd, it’s actually very pretty and subtle! The gold isn’t as deep as you see in the bottle, it’s a very light champagne colour. It’s probably best to layer it over another lip colour (you’ll definitely dye the lip gloss wand – which I already did,) but I like wearing it alone just to make my lips look more alive.
Burberry Nail Polish ($23 CAD) in No. 452 Gold Shimmer shines through well worn alone or over another colour. I wish I could conjure some fancy nail art or had a fancy Christmas party to go to with it on (not this year unfortunately.) I needed around 3-4 coats to build up a more visible shimmer.
I was VERY happy when I first started wearing Paradise Red – made my dry lips feel not so dry! Just got to make sure hair didn’t stick on it! I have been wearing this one a lot lately – the cranberry red matches with the festive mood (and gives me a bit of a perk up even when I’m sick AF! Plus, I even got a comment from my brother which is saying a LOT. He’s already exasperated by my vast makeup collection.)
The gold packaging is one of my favourite bits to the collection, it adds a really nice ‘limited edition/expensive looking’ touch to it!! Ehh to deck the halls with bows of holly…I’m decorating my lips full of jolly with red and gold. (Unless you really are decorating, then so be it!! 🙂 )
Random note..I’ve been getting a lot of knots/tightness in my back since I’ve been lying down a lot the past few days (and haven’t hit the gym for weeks – let’s not get into that.) While sitting in my chair, I put an eos lip balm where I want to loosen the tightness and squish the balm between my body and the chair, and it feels frickin’ amazing.
You can purchase Burberry Festive Collection at Sephora, Nordstrom, The Bay, or Holt Renfrew.
