Happy Thanksgiving! I procrastinated a bit as I was away in Seattle for a short weekend getaway! As the weather is cooling a bit, my skin is SO effing dry. My hands literally have dry cracks on them. And my lips….don’t even get me there. Peeling all day. When I talk about my love of lipbalms, the Dior brand is always on my list. It’s one of the luxury lip balm categories that I have repurchased. I’ve been using the original Dior Addict Lip Glow for years and the shade Lilac has been added to my collection. I usually use Dior Addict Lip Maximizer to pair with Lip Glow but my routine changed a bit with Dior Addict Lip Pomade.
The Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm ($41 CAD) has been a consistent favourite of mine – though it has gone up so much in price in the past few years! In fact, I did a review in 2012, paired with some horribly low quality pictures. Four years passed by pretty quickly! As I wrote in my previous post, I am addicted to it and will continue repurchasing it. As this is a press sample, I’ve been rotating between the Lilac and Pink shade. The Lilac is a cooler, deeper shade but on the lips, it looks very similar to the Pink, but slightly less bright. Back then I barely wore lipstick and Lip Glow is my to-go for a daily lip colour.
This is the first Dior Addict Lip Pomade ($41 CAD) and in one shade, 001 Universal Pink. This is an oil-gel type of lip balm so it makes your lips look glossy. It has a natural rosy tint; I find that it takes a longer while for the pink to show up on my lips compared to the Lip Glow. Although it feels relatively nice and hydrating on the lips (albeit a bit slippy,) I looked at the ingredient list and the second product listed is mineral oil. I’d insert the -_- emoji in here if I could. The price is way too steep for a product that contains mineral oil. I rather go for Dior’s Creme de Rose Smooth Plumping Lip Balm, or Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil (better ingredients, better price.)
Overall; the Lip Glow still is one of my favourite balms to date (it’s SO much better to get it at the duty free airport,) but the Lip Pomade is going to be a product I won’t repurchase. The Lip Glow is perfect for touching up on the bus, in the office and you don’t need a mirror!
