I think I’m finally at the age where I’m phasing out articles in my wardrobe that reflected my 20-something- year-old -student-phase. (I am keeping my Harry Potter t-shirts till I’m 100 years old though, that part is staying with me forever!!) Naturally, after purging a number of things, I have a slight excuse to add a few more things…but now my clothing picks are a bit more sophisticated than it used to be. I’m trying to build a budget office clothing pile, instead of running to Holt Renfrew for a new $100 blouse,there are quite a few pieces from Forever 21 that got my eye instead.
My most recent purchase was the Heather Laced Up Sweater Top; I’ve been into the braided bow sweaters for a while and when I saw this in store I was like tried it on without a second thought. It’s casual to wear with jeans but it’s also a bit dressy too. Although my office environment is quite lax in terms of dress code (especially when I’m out in the field, you’ll see me in the ugliest jacket, jeans from the caveman era, and steel toed boots,) I still like to try to be put together! And it is possible when even wearing budget office clothing. Sometimes I feel like if I dress better…I work better?! Jokes, jokes…I’d be just as efficient in a hoodie! I am nearing my late 20’s now *ugly sobbing* and I am gravitating to blouses and sweaters with a bit of uniqueness to it.

Lately my favourite combination are blouses (and semi tuck that in for some edge 😉 ) + jeggings + a brown belt + booties. The only flaw is that…it’s flippin’ cold in the office! I can have a nice warm meal and be shivering in my seat half an hour later and wishing I can just wave an imaginary wand and go ‘incendio’! Instead, I’m fawning over oversized cardigans. A stylish backpack has been on my radar for a while and this faux fur one is currently on the back of my mind. I also got that shirt dress a while back as it is not only cute for the office, but for a date too hehe.
Oh yah, all those pieces are under $35CAD; except for that cardigan! For a while I thought Forever 21 was a bit too edgy for me (or I’m too old,) but there’s some really nice outfits for the corporate life.
