Can you believe it’s almost fall?! We just started getting some legit good weather here and I can take out my short shorts, and in a few weeks it’ll be back to sweaters and boots again (though I’m not complaining about the boots part, can’t wait to take out my new Franco Sarto booties!) I’ve been playing with a few of Dior’s new fall 2016 collection; Skyline. Liquid liner is my go to, but I put that aside for awhile to test the Diorshow Waterproof Pro Liner.
The Diorshow Waterproof Pro Liner ($36 CAD) is a retractable liner with a bevel tip. You can get the tip to draw thick or thin lines and it does not need to be resharpened as it stays in its shape with every use.
The consistency of the liner is like a gel and it’s very creamy upon the skin. It was a bit frustrating though, as it is one of those products that are “too buttery” – the tip of the pencil broke as I was trying to add a bit of pressure to draw a darker line. To see $5 worth of eyeliner fall onto your lap is a very sad moment.
The shade #062 Pro Grege is a semi matte grey/bronze shade; it’s a very natural colour which I like to use when I go to work but for a night out, I prefer something that has more impact. This colour will definitely show up better for those with lighter skin tones; as I needed to build up a few layers for the pigmentation to show up on my eyes.
I wore the liner for more than 12 hours; the area where my eyes are hooded creased and disappeared. The winged part of my liner at the edges/outer corners of my eyes kept going strong though. My eyelids are both hooded and oily, which is pretty much a recipe for disaster for most eyeliners in a pencil form.
I envy those who have wonderful experiences with pencil liners (except for MUFE’s Aqua XL Liner- that’s the only pencil liner I’ve tried that does not move an inch.) I’ve been looking for a shade that is more neutral and natural to wear (instead of black all the time,) and though Pro Grege makes a nice natural eye makeup look, the formula did not hold up for me. The Diorshow Waterproof Pro Liner was a miss, but there are other amazing things in their Skyline collection that I will be featuring soon!
