The blog has been on the backburner for the past week…because SAN DIEGO COMIC CON! My Elektra cosplay is ready to go and I’ve also been a wee bit preoccupied with PokemonGo. I thought I’d squeeze in one last mini post before I jet set to the states and have pop my SDCC cherry. I usually try to squeeze in a post of some stuff that I bring to a trip…so here ya go! I hope this won’t be boring you all!
First and foremost, my costume! I am cosplaying Elektra from the Daredevil series on Netflix. I am dressing up in her full on fighting outfit in the last episode; there were barely any references online and I had to play and pause the final episode multiple times to get a good feel of what she is wearing. I started from a black H&M tank top and a pair of old Forever 21 leggings and hand stitched red and faux leather on it. All the faux leather parts were hand stitched by yours truly (my left hand hates me for it,) and I made a belt and thigh straps out of faux leather as well. The sais (her weapons) were from The Party Bazaar for $5.95, and I just spray painted them with some Krylon. I was already sweating when I tested my outfit in Vancouver so I expect to full on smell like a wild animal under the hot sun in San Diego.
I wanted a Triangl bikini for the longest time (well, I still do,) but I can’t see myself spending that much on a bikini; Vancouver is not bikini friendly since the sun is as stubborn as my period. I purchased this bikini top/bottom from Ardene; I have not shopped there since HIGH SCHOOL but they’re deals are good. This set was $19.50 + tax!!!! It’s a copy off Triangl but cheap girl don’t care.
Geeky clothes. YES, I finally have an occasion where I can bring them with me!!! Tardis skirt from Hot Topic, a Gryffindor Quidditch tee from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and lastly, this shirt from TeeTurtle. My friend bought me this shirt for Christmas and it has Sherlock, The Doctor, and Harry Potter on it (oops I covered it!) I also have a chibi spiderman shirt and a “I DON’T SHAVE FOR SHERLOCK HOLMES” shirt that I will wear on the plane.
Ok I have a CRAP ton of makeup- I decided I want to go full on glam at comic con because my future husband
s *cough Chris Pratt/Eddie Redmayne/Tom Hiddleston cough* will be there. But really, I can’t wait to snap some outfit shots as well as do a full on makeup look when I’m suited up in my Elektra costume. I have a bunch of Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Liners*, since they are so smudge proof and I can do some fun eye makeup at the con. I’m also bringing MUFE’s Ultra HD Foundation and Ultra HD Concealer; I LOVE the Ultra HD line and I need to look as flawless as I can!!
Eyeshadow wise, I decided to bring the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea* palette since it’s a good set of neutrals and the round and flat packaging makes it really travel friendly! Bumble&Bumble is my go-to hair products to bring while travelling so in my bag they go! There’s also Shu Uemera eyelash curler, Chella heated lash curler* (I received this at my first London Drugs event and this is really good in setting the mascara after to prevent any smudges,) Clarins Double Fix Waterproof Mascara, and CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara*. The Super Sizer is ok in terms of amplifying my lashes, but it’s very budge proof and I appreciate that.
My coworker gave me a sample of Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream – I have a feeling all the craziness is going to make my skin age a few years so got to stay prepared! I’ve been using it for the past week and so far no complaints! For my night cream, I am currently and loving Clarins Multi-Active Night*. This is a PR sample and a full review will come soon on some Clarins skincare products! Also I have my trustworthy Bioderma micellar water* to remove my makeup!
Eyes aren’t my best feature and cosplay is the best time to finally get cracking on these falsies from KISS*! Quite nervous about wearing my contact lenses, it’s been a while since I had stuck something in my eyeball.
Everything is stored in this rose gold Sephora makeup bag*. It has another compartment for small things and also a holder for brushes behind the lid. I’ll try to snap a few more pictures when I’m in San Diego of this little baby!
I will be posting on Instagram (@macaronsandmischief) and Snapchat (follow me @wheetnee)! See you soon! 🙂
