Korean beauty store, ARITAUM, opened in Aberdeen Mall in April, bringing a HUGE selection of Korean skincare and cosmetics for us Lower Mainland beauty lovers! I can finally get my hands on products with cute packaging and brands that I usually shop for in Asia. One product that has been on my beauty radar for a while is the IOPE Air Cushion XP. It’s funny how the IOPE Air Cushion is under the AmorePacific umbrella, but I like this one a lot more than the AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact (review here)!
First off, the IOPE Air Cushion XP contains SPF50+ and is rated PA+++, which is the highest rated protection against UVA rays. Products that have multiple uses are perfect for my lifestyle because I always forget sunscreen (and since I’m travelling to a sunny destination soon, this is going to be a great beauty companion. Who needs friends?!)
The benefit of cushion compacts, from what I understand, is that they cover your imperfections while also supplying a healthy nose of good stuff to your skin. IOPE Air Cushion XP contains 30% mineral water (which is first on the ingredient list.) It also has 6 essential minerals: Mg (magnesium,) Ca (calcium,) Na(sodium,) Zn, K(potassium,) and Fe (iron.) These minerals help nourish the skin and balance oil levels.
By the way I found the mineral element online; slightly proud I managed to remember each element symbol and typed the right name out!! #NeverForgetHighSchoolChemistry
Additionally, there are six Siberian plant peptides which helps stimulate collagen and elastin production which helps firm and smooth the skin. Ok. so not only does the Air Cushion provides anti-aging and hydrating benefits, it also has pore elastomer to absorb sebum and excess oil. Lastly, IOPE Air Cushion contains Vitamin B5, which helps moisturize and accelerate skin turnover, Vitamin E, which is anti-aging and prevents sagging, and Vitamin E, which is found in citrus fruit peels and provides antibacterial properties and promotes circulation.
In the package, you get a cushion compact with 15g of product and one refill sponge that also contains 15g. If you used cushion compacts before, there is nothing new. You get your compact, along with a blue puff to pat your face. The sponge doesn’t absorb a lot of product and two presses into the compact is enough to cover my face.
I got the shade C13 (cover light vanilla.) It is a fair, light ivory shade and I was a bit worried it would be too pink/cool toned for me. However, even with my skin having a warmer tone, this shade neutralizes the ‘yellow’-ness of my skin. Upon application, my skin looked dewy and felt hydrated. The formula is feathery light and it made my skin LOOK healthy. Here’s a close up shot of before and after application. My pores are clearly minimized and smoothed out.
My nose is pretty oily throughout the day and instead of my whole nose reflecting like a freshly waxed staircase, the oil production was more spread out. I noticed small areas of my nose looking oily; so I definitely see some good oil control happening.
Nothing is perfect; the Air Cushion XP lasted on my bare skin for around ten hours in a standard work day. I checked the mirror at night and noticed that parts of the foundation was fading on my skin, so it did look a bit patchy. I noticed it while I was plucking stray hairs from my face and the mirror was only a few inches away. SOOO…that’s the only thing I can nitpick on.

Overall, the IOPE Air Cushion XP Broad Spectrum SPF50+/PA+++ is a solid beauty product. SPF protection, dewy skin, and oil control = getting an O (for outstanding in the Ordinary Wizarding Levels at Hogwarts!) I will definitely need to check out ARITAUM for more IOPE products and possibly a replacement puff in the future!
If you are living in BC, you can find IOPE at ARITAUM inside Aberdeen Centre.
