Alohomora

If only the swish of a wand and chant of a spell can unlock more than doors. For me, it’s a mixture of confidence, opportunity, and persistence to unlock my door for more creative chances. I recently partnered with Macy’s and I’ve been excited to shoot and style some pieces that are perfect for the spring wardrobe. And for once, I broke out of my comfort zone, just a lil’ bit.

This time shooting around was a lot different, I was trying to figure out the length of my body, trying to not look as awkward as I felt, and most importantly, staying stable in heels for a lengthy period of time (I’m actually pretty good.) I’ve always tried to come up with my own (and let alone boring) poses; until I got this shoot done with the help of my friend @xjonathanlee, whom understands fashion photography a LOT more than me. There is only fate to thank for enabling me to meet people who are supportive of the work I try to put on Macarons & Mischief.

One of the pieces I chose from Macy’s was this floral jacket from NY Collection. Usually a pattern like that is almost a bit over the top for me and my 16 year old self would’ve walked away from something like that. Not sure if it’s because I’m in my mid-20’s now (*grown*) but or because I’ve been inspired by other cities and bloggers; this design caught my attention right away. I decided that even more floral was necessary and thought it would be a nice contrast to these mint short with flower patterns on the bottom.

Tops with the lace up front have been popping up a lot lately so I hopped onto the bandwagon as well. The INC International Concepts lace up top is pretty versatile and pretty safe. I originally thought this top would just go with some jeans, but it shined as well by tucking them into my shorts and having it peek through such a loud jacket.
