I’ve mentioned THEFACESHOP here and there before; but I want to say I go way back with this brand. When I was still in high school, I used to linger at old THEFACESHOP retail store in Richmond Centre and indulge on their masks and nail polishes. THEFACESHOP was my gateway to the beauty world. Not to mention, half the reason why I mope around there was because of a cute guy working there (and we are friends now actually and I hope he doesn’t happen to click on this post!) When THEFACESHOP closed I was sad to lose an option to get K-beauty but glad to see the new store thriving again in Richmond Centre.
My first experience with beauty products in general wasn’t makeup or toners and moisturizers; it was basic things like hand creams. I’ve considered THEFACESHOP as a stop to get basic beauty care needs and I have three things to share: their Daily Perfumed Hand Cream, Konjac Cleansing Puff, and MasCream Sheet.
THEFACESHOP Konjac Cleansing Puff ($5 CAD) is pretty efficient and easy to use with cleanser to get rid of makeup and that icky feeling off the face. For those unfamiliar with Konjac (also known as devil’s tongue) sponges, they are actually a plant. It is recommended to be used for 2-3 months. I’ve always used Konjac sponges to clean clay masks off, I find it easier to rub it off gently rather than my face towel. This is a lot cheaper than other konjac cleansing sponges I’ve tried in the past and it’s a very affordable, yet useful thing to put in your skincare routine!
After using THEFACESHOP MasCream sheet($5 CAD) for 20 minutes, my face felt soft and I noticed my newly popped pimple didn’t look as red. This mask, used for firming, contains snail mucus cream. The mask is pretty ‘wet’ so prepare for some messiness. Unfortunately, my neck did react slightly and it was crazy itchy for the next few hours. My face looked pretty radiant the next morning though! However, I don’t feel any noticeable firming effects and I probably will have to continue using this mask on a more regular basis to see if my face felt more firm. However, since it is $5 per sheet, it can be an expensive routine and I already quite like THEFACESHOP’s masks that are in the $2 range.
THEFACESHOP Daily Perfumed Hand Cream ($6 CAD) in Acacia Honey is everyting I like in a hand cream and more. First, the scent is light, sweet and I’m glad to see a scent that is neither fruity or floral. I like putting honey in my tea and I wouldn’t mind using it as a perfume (as long as the bees don’t get to me first!!) I put it on in the morning before I go to work and for the next 5-6 hours, I don’t feel the need to re-hydrate my hands again, even after washing them! The scent doesn’t last that long, however, it probably fades away from all that hand washing and using my computer.
In general, I love spending on the affordable little things at THEFACESHOP as the quality matches the price quite well. Plus they always have sales so I can stock up on more Korean masks!
