I LOVE boxes of a specific brand and you can try miniature versions of their makeup products, without fully committing to a regular sized product. I rather spend $50 on a small box of blush, eyeliner, mascara etc vs a $31 mascara- makes sense right?! I received the blinc Box Discovery Collection a while back; I couldn’t thoroughly test these as I had eyelash extensions so I literally waited for my lashes to fall off before diving into the box.
Inside the blinc Box Discovery Collecion ($44 CAD) are four sample sized products: Mascara Amplified (0.10oz,) Eyebrow Mousse (0.06 oz,) Eye Shadow Primer (0.06oz,) and Eyeliner Pencil (0.03 oz.) The main selling point of these products is that it delivers “live proof” results. So if I see Daniel Radcliffe standing on top of Grouse Mountain, I’m going to scale that mountain and sweating like a pig… and still look as fresh as ever wearing blinc. Even for those with oily skin or living in harsh climates, blinc claims that your makeup isn’t going to smudge.
Blinc Mascara Amplified $30CAD for full size 0.3 oz) is a water resistant mascara and is claimed to be sweat proof, flake proof, and smudge proof. It works by forming water resistant “tubes” around your eyelashes, kind of protecting them from external elements. When I remove the mascara with my micellar water, the mascara slides off as tubes as well and I get little squiggly lines on my cotton pad rather than a black puddle. The Mascara Amplified did live up to its water resistant properties and I didn’t experience any flaking/smudging for the whole day; however, it didn’t live up to the “amplified” part of the name. As my lashes are so straight already, the mascara didn’t hold it up nor did it give any noticeable volume. There was some lengthening but nothing too drastic. 🙁 I’ve been using it over my other mascara to make my lashes more sweat/oil proof instead now.
Blinc Eyeshadow Mousse ($3o CAD for full size 0.14oz) is in the shade light brunette and works as a water resistant tint. I never do my brows so when I tried it, I forgot I had eyebrow makeup thirty seconds later. When I washed my face, I realized that my eyebrows were still in tact after smushing them with my wet towel. My eyebrow makeup skills and knowledge is very limited, but I found it easy to use and it tamed my hairs to one direction. The cool thing is that it provides antiaging treatment to the skin; I cannot verify it cause I’m not going to shave my brows to see if my skin there reversed time, but it’s a nice add-on?
Blinc Eyeshadow Primer ($30 CAD for full size) in the Fountain of Youth Color is a fair nude shade that doesn’t really match my skin tone. It does create a very clean canvas and contains ingredients to decrease fine lines and improve moisture. I wish it matched my skin tone better as the primer hold against my oily eyelids pretty well!
Blinc Eyeliner Pencil ($23 CAD for full size) in black is very creamy and easy to glide. It also contains antioxidants and vitamins to firm and condition the skin. Since I have hooded eyelids, pencil liners will be the bane of my existence. It did transfer at the corner of my eyelids but it has held better than other waterproof pencil liners I’ve tried in the past.
So the stupidest thing happened: I mixed the eyebrow mousse and mascara wands so the swatches of both look the same in the photo below. I have them there anyway because I was testing how waterproof they were when I sprayed it, and dayyyyyyymm the held up quite well. The Eyeliner Pencil and the Eyeshadow Primer required more strength than usual to get rid of.
Overall, the blinc Box Discovery Collection didn’t wow me when I put it on my face personally, but the quality and formula is as true as it states. If I didn’t have hooded eyelids and thick brows, I think I would’ve appreciated these blinc minis a lot more. If you’ve always been curious about blinc and waterproof makeup is your thing, then this box is worth it for it’s value (better than paying $30 for one product IMO!)
You can purchase blinc Box Discovery Collection on blinc online or find the collection at Sephora.
