A few weeks ago I attended Shoppers Drug Mart’s Beauty Gala. This gala is held in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF.) When each $10 ticket is purchased, $5 of it will be donated to CBCF and the other $5 is redeemable on any beauty purchase during the event. I attended one of these 3.5 years ago at the Coal Harbour location (time has flew!!) and it was a lot of fun and I even won of the grand prizes! I was invited to attend the gala at one of my local Shoppers Drug Mart locations this year and I sort of feel like I’ve come to a full circle, so much has changed since 2012!
I attended the event at Richmond Centre’s Shoppers Drug Mart. When this location went under renovation, I was so excited to see a luxury beauty section opened up; which means I don’t have to travel to farther locations for the next Shoppers points redemption!!
I had my makeup done by beauty expert, Nikita, who used brands from Paul & Joe, Lancome, Anna Sui, and Smashbox. I decided to go for a ‘fancier’ makeup look rather than something natural, which is what I usually wear!
The Paul & Joe Moisturizing Fluid Foundation made my skin look amazing, by the way, and I am definitely going to use my points to get one of them next time. Lancome Juicy Shaker lip glosses is my next favourite beauty product that Nikita used.

In addition to complimentary makeover,s there was also David’s Tea and yummy goodies to nom on! Funny story; I was talking to Angie who was giving out samples of David’s Tea and turns out we were a) already Facebook friends and b) we met each other a few years ago at a YVR Foodies event! The world is small and it was great to reconnect over another fun event! She’s also from Richmond and is a singer/songwriter, you can check her out at Angie Faith Music!
There was also henna and a tarot card reading. After I got my makeup done, I went over to the tarot card booth. I have been curious about stuff like this for ages even though I don’t really believe in it and as Hermione would call Divination, it’s a “wooly” subject. After I got my reading, I am not so sure anymore. Mallory, the tarot card reader, kind of got most facts of my life PRETTY dang accurate.
I didn’t have time to go home and take any good shots of myself, but I did do some mirror selfies right after I got my makeup over done. Thank you to Nikita who prepped my face for a night out!
In British Columbia, funds raised for CBCF will support three Mobile Digital Mammography units for a period of five years to serve rural and under serviced areas. Over $1.7 million dollars was raised in 2015! Keep an eye out for the next Beauty Gala at your local Shoppers Drug Mart!
