Sorry guys, my computer was crapping out on me but I got it working again now!
I haven’t been that excited for a neutral eyeshadow palette for a while (and I haven’t even hopped onto any of Too Faced palette bandwagon…yet.) The Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette is another product part of Tarte’s summer collection and it’s so pretty! I’m not a “let’s go to the beach and chill” kind of person but I kinda excited for warmer weather and head out to the ocean and find some shells and what not.
The Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette ($41 CAD) comes in a circular purple and gold compact. Inside, there are 8 x 0.05oz eyeshadows. They contain the Rainforest of the Sea complex which helps keeping the eyelids hydrated. Love the huge mirror inside too!
The eyeshadows were creamy and easy to blend, I wouldn’t expect nothing less coming from Tarte and its price tag. The are 8 shades (and three of them are mattes!) are:
- Seashell: soft, shimmery pink shade
- Wave: light, shimmery slate gray shade
- Abyss: matte brown
- Reef: burnt copper
- Starfish: bronze
- Cove: matte tan
- Sand: matte ivory – this one is only slightly chalky and was hard to get it to show in my pictures. But the formulation is still loads better than other light coloured mattes!
- Mermaid: gold

There is also a handy dandy instruction sheet. Normally I don’t really follow these but I will this time, because I am a rebel!
Here I am attempting the ‘Beach Bum Bronze’ look! The colours I used were starfish, cove, reef, mermaid, and sand. Don’t mind the brows. I love the use of mermaid on the lower lashline, I felt like it made a subtle difference in making my eyes stand out more! The shadows lasted around 7 hours on me without primer; I have oily eyelids so next time I will definitely try it with a primer. I’m like the Neville Longbottom of eyeshadow but the instructions were pretty easy to follow, and I daresay that I feel comfortable with this look compared to other eyeshadow combinations I’ve worn in the past!
The Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette is beautiful. The packaging is pretty to the eyes and you get a good amount of eyeshadow! The colours are very versatile and who can say no to a easy to use neutral eyeshadow palette?! I can see myself using every colour, which is very rare- hence I rarely buy palettes for this reason.
If these aren’t sold out yet, you can find them online or in stores at Sephora.
