If you absolutely cannot stand sticky lip products, then this post is not for you. :/
If you don’t mind sticky lips but long lasting colour….then maybe you’ll like this, the Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer. So far for Spring; Clinique has released the Oil Lip and Cheek Glow, Sheer Lip Colour + Primer, and then now we have the Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer. I like how they strayed from a traditional lipstick or gloss and tried to create something in between. Sometimes though, the non traditional products may not be the best; as I pointed out before that the Oil Lip and Cheek Glow was alright. Is this Pop lip the right one for you?

Clinique Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer ($21 CAD) is a high pigment liquid lipstick with a built in primer and has claims that it lasts up to 6 hours. The formula is a bit heavy and has that tackiness to it; when I smack my lips I can feel the gloss pulling itself apart. For me, I definitely considered it a bit sticky as the ends of my hair sticks to it. When I twist open the cap to pull out the wand, it makes that pop/sucky sound.
This gorgeous lip color and primer locks in color and is formulated with a shine-boosting vitamin complex for a polished finish. – Sephora
Because of its sticky nature, it really adheres to my lips. I received two shades to try – Wink Pop is a light pink and Happy Pop is a orangey-red shade. One swatch gives high intense pigmentation as promised.

These Pop lip products are really cute, albeit a bit clunky. But I like how I can stack them high up and pray they don’t get knocked over. The doe foot applicator is the same one used in the Oil Lip Color + Cheek Glow and I had no issues in application. Actually, most of the time I can’t really find anything to complain about for lip gloss/liquid lipstick wands.

Wink Pop didn’t last the full six hours; I noticed it gone around four hours. It COULD be there if the colour was darker, but pink shades usually don’t last as long compared to darker or brighter shades. I thought it would wash me out, but Wink Pop compliments heavy makeup looks as well as au naturel.
Happy Pop really amped up my lips eh!? I had to be more careful with this one to apply it evenly on my lips. I went out with this lip for a few minutes and felt a bit uncomfortable so I blotted it and my lips had the Happy Pop stain. That stain lasted through the day and night- for around 10 hours!! My lips didn’t show signs of being drier or more hydrated than usual; I still touched up with lip balm while I was wearing it.
I’m not completely sold on these since the stickiness (not that it’s a deal breaker) is a bit off putting; but give me a non-windy day with my thick hair tied up, these lip lacquers easily grab my attention. I just realized that these colours sort of mirror the shades of the Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow that I swatched and reviewed. Glad to see that Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer lives up to its promise of being long lasting, which I’m sure will appeal to many of you! Happy Pop is definitely a shade that I’ll save for a night out with my friends (look how more held back I am in my photo!) whereas Wink Pop is an everyday shade.
You can find Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer at online, Sephora, The Bay, or Nordstrom.
