First I introduced the Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer; another new addition to Clinique Pop lip products is their Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow. I was first interested in lip oils when YSL launched their Volupte Tint in Oil and then Clarins had their Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil. Lip oils feel like a non-sticky version of lip gloss and if you’re looking for a hydrating lip stain, these Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow may be for you!
Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow($22 CAD) is a tint that contains safflower, jojoba and sunflower seed oils. The formula is kind of like a sauce or jam; coloured and a bit watery. I thought I could do a shot of them lying down on the side with the lid unscrewed, but stupid me did not account for the lip oil to be flowing out of the tube! *FACE PALM*

The applicator is a standard doe foot one as you see below; it is tapered at the top which helps with getting the colour within the contour of the lips.
This is a lip and cheek hybrid product, but I would not be using it on the cheeks. It has a sticky oily feeling when I spread it out on the skin and doesn’t have that feathery, lightweight feeling I like like my blushes. And honestly, it’s probably not the most hygienic either to apply something on my germy face and my dry lips.
The colours I received were Rose Glow and Poppy Glow. Rose Glow is a sheer fuschia shade (looked scarily dark in the tube though) and Poppy Glow is a juicy apple red. When blended out, they are shades I’d wear as a blush but I’m not fond of the formula face-wise.
Rose Glow reminds me of a bit like Dior Lip Glow + Dior Lip Maximizer. It gives my lips a rosy colour. Unfortunately, the formula sinks into my lip lines, Rose Glow isn’t as noticeable as Poppy Glow. A few more layers hides the lip line filling at least! Texture wise, it’s great! It’s definitely a bit slippery on the lips, since it’s a lip oil. It provides pretty good hydration for around two hours; it will transfer between talking and drinking coffee- but that seems to be standard with most lip colours that come my way. These guys also give you a LOT of shine on the lips, these pictures don’t even capture half the *zing zing [insert reflection noise if you know what I mean]* compared to real life.

I wanted to find an online link for us Canadians to purchase online but I can’t find it anywhere on Sephora or Clinique online! You can find Clinique at Sephora, The Bay, or Nordstrom in Canada – hopefully the lip oil is in stores!
Overall, I like the Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow but I don’t love it. I have to be careful to make sure there’s no streaky look on my lips but I have no worries about its ability to hydrate my lips. (It is a pretty nice alternative than shelling out the $35 for YSl’s Volupte Tint In Oil though!!) I was wearing Rose Glow around and my brother actually pointed out “hey why don’t you wear that to work more?” Oh, boys.
Which lip oils have you tried?
