“He can run faster than Severus Snape confronted with shampoo. ” – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
For as long as I can remember; the steps were shampoo, the conditioner. I’ve stayed away from the shampoo-conditioner hybrids for a while now. Makes sense right…scrub out the crap from your hair and then soften it after. The Tresemme Beauty-Full Volume line reversed my steady routine – condition your hair first, then shampoo the hair so your hair won’t get weighed down. That…actually would be great if I can prolong my non-hair washing days. In this reverse system routine, I received the Step 1 Pre Wash Conditioner, Step 2 Shampoo, and Hair Maximizer to finish off.
Tresemme was actually one of my first brand of hair shampoo I used when I started shopping for my own hair products- I loved the amount of product you get for the price. However, I did get bored and felt like they were coming out with similar products that didn’t make my hair feel any better. After trying their Beauty-Full Volume line, I felt a noticeable difference in the texture of my hair.
My hair is thick, coarse, and heavy. Tying a ponytail for a prolonged duration gives me a headache, so usually I like to leave it down. My hair does get weighed down a lot so it usually is flat so I’m always up for using hair products that claim to give me volume.

The Step 1 Pre-Wash Conditioner is not as thick as I’m used to; I needed to use quite a bit to cover my whole head of thick hair and I have a wary feeling I’ll use it up before the shampoo (always happens like that, eh?!) I have a bad habit to pump a LOT of shampoo out whenever I wash my hair; but that is not necessarily with the Step 2 Shampoo. I worked up a good lather with it and 1 pump was more than enough to make my hair have that clean feeling under the water. After my shower, my hair felt just as clean if I had done the shampoo then conditioner routine. Both of these scents reminded me of the ones used in hair salons.
I was most excited about the Hair Maximizer– I always use some kind of product in my hair post washing and pre blow drying. The Hair Maximizer is applied on damp hair; it contains a formula with Fleximax™ Volumizers that creates a flexible bonds between the hair fibers. It also has Fiber Polishing Actives to smoothe the hair cuticle and leave a silky feeling and a polished look.
The first time I used it, I already noticed a bounce in my hair and it was soft and silky. I kept running my hands through my hair. The volume was ok, I’ve had better products that were more effective, but it still gave my hair shape.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the Tresemme Beauty-Full line. I honestly thought it was a gimmick to tell people to condition their hair before washing, but the whole bundle worked together really well (even if the volume was around 60% there.) Since Tresemme can be found in drugstores, I will most likely repurchase it since its good to the wallet and good for my hair. What’s your take on reverse washing?
