Hello everyone! I’ve been busy sorting out pictures and relaxing, but it’s back to blogging business! And trying not to binge watch Daredevil!! Btw- this girl is going to SAN DIEGO COMIC CON! SO many costume options, SO little time!! Anyone want to see some costume related posts maybe?
After coming back from Toronto, my skin was TERRIBLE. I didn’t exfoliate so I probably had layers of dead skin chilling on my body and it was so dry I was peeling myself. My first thought of relaxing in Vancouver was sitting in a bath with a mask on, just have my own in house spa. And what better to use other than Lush products??! Being a long time Lush Cosmetics fan, the Big Blue Bath Bomb, Ocean Salt, and Mask of Magnaminty are some cult favourites for a relaxing, soothe-your-skin kind of evening.
Not only am I trying to take less baths now since there’s a water meter outside my house, but I agree with Danny from The Mindy Project- it really is soaking in your own filth and um…yah I don’t really clean my tub on a daily basis. But as long as I take a shower AFTER a bath, I should be fine!! The Big Blue Bath Bomb ($6.50 CAD) is pretty much an explosion of seaweed and you’re left wondering why you are the only alive in your homemade aquarium after the bath bomb is dissolved under water.
Big Blue uses sea salt and arame seaweed. The seaweed is NOT food, but they’re rich in vitamins and its nutrients are released when in water and soothes the skin. It also contains lavender and lemon oil. It has a fresh, clean ocean scent and left my skin hydrated after I finished my bath. The only thing I might add is that there is a LOT of seaweed; so much that it was a bit frustrating cleaning it all. This is a more of an expensive bath bomb and I use it once as a while as a treat; I wouldn’t be able to afford this on a weekly basis.
I like doing non-sheet masks in the bath because I can rinse right after without pulling out a towel and feel like I’m lawn mowing my skin. I’ve talked about the Mask of Magnaminty ($13.95- $25.95 CAD) before on my blog, and I definitely consider it fulfilling my ‘at home spa’ routine. I was breaking out like mad when I was on my trip and my skin needed SO much TLC. I like this mask for cleansing my pores with china clay, exfoliating with the aduki beans, and soothing it with honey.
Ocean Salt ($21.95-$36.95 CAD) has been on my radar for the LONGEST time, ever since I’ve been a fan of Lush, but I always seem to walk out with different products instead of the one I want (happens to all, doesn’t it?) I need strong exfoliators; especially my body. Ocean Salt is a mix of avocado, coconut, lime, vodka, and of course; salt. I’m so bad at describing scents, but it smells like fresh laundry…with some saltiness and acidic notes to it?
One reason why I like it is of the lime- I find that exfoliators with acidic ingredients does a good job in ridding my frickin’ ugly ingrown hair on my legs. It can be used on the face or body, but I like to use it mostly on my body and maybe my forehead which is the most stubborn parts of my face. When I use Mask of Magnaminty post shower/bath, I considered my face to be clean already after!
Lush Cosmetics packs some of my favourite products whenever I need some time to relax my body and mind (which I don’t do very often!) Their products may not be the friendliest cost wise, but on I find them effective and only use small amounts when needed. I like to rotate my bath products so Big Blue might be repurchased in the far future, but Ocean Salt and Mask of Magnaminty will be stocked up once I finished! Need my legs ready for summer, and face all year round!
You can find these products at your local Lush store or online.
