(Should I do more posts that are “for the engineer,” just like my three way black sweater post? I feel like these posts can cater to a lot of people, but I use these products particularly because of my occupation. Let me know!)
Most days I go out without makeup; most days means days I go to work. Mostly, it’s because I don’t want to look over done, and working in an engineering department gives me the advantage of wearing jeans and a hoodie. But, y’know, sometimes I just want to look alive- and I’ve been trying out Estee Lauder Double Wear Waterproof Concealer and a bit of Pure Color Envy Eyeshadow to perk up my eyes behind the frames.
I feel like this year is pretty big on concealers, right?? Even Sephora has the whole colour corrector thing going on and you can get enough concealers to paint yourself to look like an alien. The only concealer I ever really needed are for my dark eye circles. I’ve read really good reviews on Estee Lauder’s Double Wear line and was excited to try the Double Wear Waterproof All Day Extreme Wear Concealer ($30 CAD.) This is an oil free concealer with a hydrating, creamy formula that gives a matte finish.
I tested this waterproof-ness of the Double Wear Waterproof Concealer by putting some concealer on my hand and dropped some water on it and patted it with a tissue. Though the white tissue had a slight transfer, majority of the concealer still remained on my skin! I think I might even wear this to the gym! The shade I received was 2W Light Medium (Warm) which blended with my natural skin colour. I didn’t experience any creasing with this concealer; but it lasted around 10 hours on me before I notice that my under eyes were starting to look a bit darker again.
I haven’t worn much eyeshadow likely which is no fun! I don’t usually like purchasing eyeshadow singles since they’re not as efficient as palettes, but this the Pure Color Envy Eyeshadow ($28) is great to carry around in the office for a quick makeup fix. The navy coloured compact with the mirror makes it really cute!
The shade Nude Dare is a light, matte peachy pink shade. The formula is buttery smooth and it lasted a full work day. A nude shade like this makes it foolproof to apply. Even if I mess up, no one is going to know muahahaha! If you like bright and colourful eyeshadow- this is not the shade for you because it is almost undetectable on the eyelids (especially if you wear glasses,) and you wouldn’t want to pay such a price for something you can’t see. I think Nude Dare would be a really beautiful blush too! I like wearing this shade for work as it doesn’t look like I’m wearing any makeup, but my eyes are a bit brighter when zoomed in!
Overall, the Double Wear Waterproof Concealer is a win; the Pure Color Envy eyeshadow formula is great but the colour isn’t exciting (but it fits my needs for my not wearing eye makeup – makeup look.) I like my office makeup simple and this Estee Lauder duo may not be the best makeup look I’ve done, but it’s one I wear most often!
What makeup look do you wear most often?
