Living in the city of constant rain, I am a fail in the department of looking fashionable and functional. The thought of “I want to feel confident in my clothes but I’m too lazy to try,” runs through my head pretty much all the time. The struggle seems to be more real whenever water is coming down to the sky and I’m fumbling between my umbrella and finding my compass card…while holding a coffee at the same time.
One reason why I never purchase a clutch is that they hold almost next to nothing. A phone, some cash and a lipstick. Other girls can survive with that for a night, but I can’t! I need my lip balm and three other lipsticks, a mirror, tissue, and emergency Tylenol if I get a headache. I was recently introduced to Annette Ferber bags. Anette Ferber’s Sacs Collection began with a bag that can be folded into a pouch; perfect for grocery store shopping while still looking you can go out for a movie after. She then designed the Journey Collection which is a line of distressed leather and canvas accessories. When possible, up-cycled leather and material remnants are used for environmental purposes.
I received the Pompeii Bag from Annette Ferber’s Journey Collection. It has a few interior pockets and a back zipper which makes it so convenient to hold my essentials and more. It can also expand, which means in goes my precious Timolino so I can carry hot water EVERYWHERE! (Hot water is the best thing to cary around, it keeps me hydrated, makes me feel good after a large meal, and also acts as a potential weapon to throw on someone.)
My basic outfit is usually jeans + sweater + a jacket; when it was raining (again,) I pulled out my brightest yellow Superdry jacket to keep me dry and threw everything into my black over the shoulder Pompeii Bag before getting these pictures done. I consider my boat jacket to be pretty functional; I get to stay warm and I stick out like a sore thumb on the street (also this was the jacket I wore when I got a picture with Daniel Radcliffe.) My Arctica boots double as a height booster and a rain repellent as well. Probably the least functional part of my outfit are my distressed jeans, having a hole in my pants during the cold weather is not the smartest idea!
