Happy Chinese New Year!! Whether I’m at home blogging or behind my screen at work, snacking is a habit I thoroughly enjoy. (Especially during Chinese New Year, I’ve been snacking on those sweet rice cakes morning, afternoon, and night.) Coconut is a flavour I enjoy in Chinese desserts as well as in ice cream. I was sent four bags of Prana Organic Dry Roasted Coconut Chips and I was excited to do some healthy snacking.
The four flavours of Prana Organic Dry Roasted Coconut Chips ($3.99 for 100g) I received were: Classic (pure coconut), Hula (Sea Salt & Pepper,) Charleston (BBQ,) and Jive (Spicy Chili.) Not only are these snacks nutritious, they are also vegan, organic, gluten-free and GMO-free.
I really enjoy the classic coconut taste and so the Classic flavour was my favourite of the four and the first bag I devoured. It makes a good snack alone or a yummy garnish on top of salads and sweets (coconut and chocolate, coconut and ice cream…delicious!!!)
The Hula (salt & pepper flavour) contains rice syrup, black pepper, and sea salt. This is my second favourite one as it is lightly seasoned and tingled my taste buds with its savoury and spicy combination.
Jive (Spicy Chili) coconut chips uses evaporated cane juice, vinegar, spices*, and sea salt. I love spicy and hot flavours and these are a great alternative to fried potato chips which I guiltily love to consume.
Charleston (BBQ) was my least favourite; it tasted a bit too tangy for my liking. Note that I’m not a BBQ flavour person; my standards of BBQ flavour is probably McDonald’s Mcnugget sauce…I don’t enjoy barbeque flavoured chips in particular. The BBQ chips contains rice syrup, vinegar, tomato paste, sea salt, spices, Hickory smoke flavour.
Prana Organic Dry Roasted Coconut Chips were delicious (except for the BBQ flavoured chips) and I enjoyed this alternative over to the saltier, fattier snacks I usually eat. Speaking of coconut, I’m about to eat my Chinese New Year coconut rice cake, coconut is the bomb!
