Clean and Clear wanted us to share a story of an insecurity we had and how we came to feel comfortable in our own skin. I can probably say the #1 insecurity I’ve probably had is feeling the dreaded low self-esteem that I’m sure every teenager to relate. I thought I was not pretty enough to wear a dress, my eyes were too small for makeup, and my grades weren’t good enough for a challenging career. Coming from an all girl’s private high school, everything was a competition.
And I’m pretty dang sure I am who I am today is because I found passion in what I am doing now. Being in my current field of work forces me solve problems and made me realize that no one cares about my grades (in your face, Calculus!) Selling handmade crafts and cosplaying helped me meet new people, talk to strangers in conventions, and then have people shower me with my level of detail in things I make. And best of all, having a blog has forced me to jump out of my comfort zone, time and time again. Finding what you love to do really motivates you to know who you are and how to be comfortable into your skin!
I always start the day with a good skincare routine, and for the pasttwo weeks I’ve been using Clean & Clear’s Fresh & Clean Morning Routine Guide.I chose the Fresh Skin routine as I don’t have any specific problems to target and just want to #seetherealme.
Step 1: Cleanse with Clean & Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser
The Foaming Facial Cleanser is a gel cleanser that contains Vitamin C and Ginseng. Sometimes I worry about foaming cleansers that they’ll dry the face out but I had no tight feeling with this one. While the foam is lathering on the face, ‘ Bursting Beads’ will break apart. I didn’t feel these physically and was curious if they were microbeads, but there are not any in the cleanser. It contains Lauric Acid, a type of fatty acid found in coconut oil. There are parabens and parfum in the cleanser; which I know many of you may or may not be wary about.
Step 2: Treat with Clean & Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent
I have been familiar with this facial toner for a few years and now both me and my brother use it. I actually started using this on my legs to clean my pores post waxing; and now I occasionally use this on my nose to kill that Rudolph nose from breaking out or the occasional chin pimple. I find this product to be on the strong side and it does a better job in preventing breakouts than oil control; it contains 2% salicylic acid and alcohol as well. When I see my forehead is planning to ruining my day, I use this toner over it.
This is a drying product; I wouldn’t recommend using it if your skin is really devoid of moisture. I use it only on certain areas on my face and then I use a face oil and moisturizer after. It is recommended to use it once a day and then gradually increase so your skin will get used to it.
Step 3: Moisturize with Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer
Last step; the Dual Action Moisturizer. This facial moisturizer combines oil-free moisture with salicylic acid. Again, this facial moisturizer should be used once a day if you aren’t used to the acid and gradually build up skin tolerance. As I don’t break out often, I use a normal moisturizer on my face and have been using the Dual Action Moisturizer on my forehead. So far since I got my back from my Asia trip, still haven’t had breakouts that needed to be hidden under my hair. I find I need something stronger for the winter as my cheeks are extra dry.
Overall the Clean & Clear Fresh & Clean Morning Routine is suited for the troubling parts of my face, but not something I would use religiously; my face is too dry for it. For winter, I prefer a more moisturizing routine but this trio would be very handy as we enter in the warmer months.
