The lack of nail posts on this blog signifies two things; a) my nail polish skills are sloppy and b) there is never any impressive nail art to show off. So when I was asked if I wanted to try a nail stamping plate from MoYou London, I was down to try this thing out and hoped I had some success to put on here. I struggled 90% of the process because I am clumsy and lazy, but I did get some hits!
MoYou London carries a line of nail stamping plates to apply different pictures or shapes on the nails easily. I received the Holy Shapes kit which has 18 different geometric designs to apply on the nail.
The MoYou London Holy Shapes Starter Kit ($29.95) contains a Nail Art Image Plate, 1 Nail Stamping Polish in Pink!, 1 Rectangular Stamp and Scraper, and an instruction manual.
The instructions are:
1) Remove the blue protective film (from the image plate.)
2) Apply the Nail Polish of your choice to the design you wish to stamp.
3) Remove the excess nail polish with a MoYou Stamp & Scraper using a 45º angle.
4) Roll the MoYou Stamp & Scraper over the selected design being careful not to use too much pressure.
5) Transfer the design by rolling the MoYou Stamp & Scraper over you nail.
6) Apply a top coat for a longer lasting result.
One thing to ensure is rolling the stamp over the polish quickly before it dries- or else you’ll have to clean the plate and redo it. When I tried it, I messed up many shapes due to poor scraping skills until I found my rhythm. At the end, my stamping plate looked like it came out of Game of Thrones’ Red Wedding, except it was pink polish everywhere instead.
The final result was better than anything artsy I’ve tried on my nails (except for the middle finger lol.) Once you have the starter kit, you can buy individual plates alone (London Pro is SO pretty!) This turned out better than I thought and I think my fourth finger turned out pretty well!!
Overall, this was a fun and new experience!!! It is great to play around with if nail art is not your skill (raises hand!!!) I definitely need more practice; the Moyou London plates opened up a whole new world of nail art possibilities! (I am not looking forward to cleaning my stamping plate later though.)
