Imagine if you could chuck all your makeup away and just have your basics. Canadian makeup brand, SST Cosmetics, designed a collection of five pencils, called Powerplay Powerstay where you can do your makeup with these 5 products. I first introduced SST Cosmetics this spring on my blog and the Hydrating Lipstick was way too Barbie world for me, but the lipsticks in this collection is the cream of the crop!
These five pencils are chemical, gluten, and cruelty-free and their pencil shape makes them easy to throw into a pencil makeup bag and go. By the way, these sticks are not those twisty ones, so unfortunately you would need a sharpener.
Starting with the eyes, I used Power Stay Shadow Stick in Plank; a shadow pencil that can triple as an eyeliner, eye shadow, and a waterline liner. It has a matte black finish and is extremely pigmented. The one problem is, it’s too thick to line my eyes (cause I don’t have much lid space for those hooded lids!) If I line this around my eyes I surely would look like a raccoon.
For the brows, I used Power Stay Brown Pencil Stick in Form. The shade is a light brown. My brows are naturally quite full so I used it to fill in the spaces, however, if you have more sparser brows and have dark brown eyebrow hair, this colour might not be for you. I actually quite like using this shade as an eyeshadow compared to Plank; I just can’t do a great smoky eye with a pencil. The formula is a bit tacky but doesn’t budge at all!
As a highlighter, we got the Power Stay Highlighting Stick in Glisten. This is a frosty white shimmer shade. It’s scarily white when I draw the lines all over my face but easy to blend out the white colour. But the glitter bits are quite big and ends up being stuck in my pores so I kind of look like I used a glitter facial cleanser. I prefer using this under my eyes to brighten them.

The two favourite shades of the collection are the lip/cheek colours (how not surprising!) The Power Stay Lipstick in Euphoric is a vibrant fuschia shade that looks beautiful on cheeks and lips. The shade Willpower is a blue based red that is perfect for this season! Both of these have a matte finish and they contain Vitamin E and Beeswax to lock in moisture. Even with dry lips like mine, I did not find these drying my lips out AND they survived after multiple cups of tea, coffee, and waffle gobbling. If you’re looking for a long lasting lip colour, THIS IS IT!
In my pictures, I’m wearing only SST Powerplay Powerstay Pencils (with Euphoric on my cheeks.) You can see the thick liner is a wee bit awkward…and I did the corner of my eyes since it was hard to get a sleek flick with the pencil.

Overall– all of these sticks have great pigmentation (with exception to the brow stick depending on your shade,) and a long lasting formula. Glisten and Plank fell a bit short for me as I prefer my fine point eyeliners and glitter free highlighters. The Power Stay Lipsticks are my favourite; the colour pay off is so freakin’ pretty! I’m considering Willpower to be a potential candidate for an upcoming holiday party cause it’s perfection! Each Power Stay Stick retails for $27.95 CAD, which is fairly pricey but if you are looking for something that will last long your skin, these are good picks! You can find SST Cosmetics online.
