The only extreme makeup I do is usually for cosplaying humans from anime and what not so doing makeup for a Halloween costume actually feels strange! I haven’t legit gone full out dress up for Halloween for a while (yet I’ll be all done up for a convention.) For Halloween, I prefer wearing an accessory and using makeup to complement it. One year I just put on a headband with Shrek ears and wore eyeliner, obviously no one took me seriously so I am stepping up my game with this fox hat! I received some products from Hard Candy to play around with my Halloween look; hope you feel inspired!
I googled up pictures of a fox and realized that a)I don’t have any products to make half my face white, and b)I wear glasses so I’m going to be Mozilla Firefox. Since we don’t see the Firefox fox’s full on face, I’m just going to go with whatever I feel like, even though it looks like a total fail. The three main products I am using for this look is: Hard Candy Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection in Naturally Gorgeous, Fierce Effects Daring Lip Gloss in Daredevil, and Walk the Line Liquid Eyeliner in a silver glitter shade (can’t find the name on the packaging!)

The focus of my makeup was the eyes, mostly because there was nothing else I can do to make myself look more of a fox and less of a human. The Top Ten Eye Shadow Collection in Naturally Gorgeous ($6.98 CAD at Walmart) has ten shimmery shades of brown, golds, and taupe. I mostly used the golden-orangey shade and the dark brown shade for my eyes. I used a light brown shade to add shadows on my nose. This palette needs its own post later because I am impressed with how many pretty combinations you can get with this!! For that price you can’t go wrong! After using the shadow, I took a black eyeliner to outline my eyes.
Oh, I also used the dark brown shadow on my nose….scroll all the way down if you want to see the disaster.

I wanted to add that evil glint in my eye; if I want to look like a badass on camera I will look constipated so instead I used a Walk the Line Liquid Eyeliner ($6.98 CAD at Walmart). The eyeliner is basically silver glitter in a bottle and I can imagine using this on the lids too if you want extra shimmer! I don’t wear glitter often, but for something like Halloween I might as well milk it! I needed several layers of glitter for it to appear better on camera; but you will see later that I kind of went heavy on one of the eyes. Good thing we can’t see both eyes of Mozilla Firefox!
Usually if we do a bold eye we keep the lips neutral right? Well I decided to go for a full on red lip because I can’t draw any more fox lines on my mouth; the Fierce Effects Daring Lip Gloss in Daredevil is a new gloss that came out during Spring. It is infused with Argan & citrus oils and I can confirm that my lips were not drying up! And one swipe you get an insanely stop sign-red shade.
Ok guys..this is my first attempt! Let’s dissect what can be improved on: the light brown contour on the sides of my nose are not of equal length; the eyeshadow is not even, and those whisker dots are not real circles. And a fox obviously doesn’t have red lips. But it’s Halloween so I assume I can do anything I want.
Hard Candy products are super affordable so if you need something for Halloween for just that one day,I highly recommend it! They also got blue lip gloss, green mascara…but even for those non-Halloween days, something like the Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection palette is a great keeper in your makeup drawer. I conclude that I don’t look anything like a fox, it’s fun to dress up the face instead of wearing a fluffy fox onesie (though I’m up for it if I had a onesie!) Are you dressing up for Halloween?
