July BirchBox Canada 2015

For the month of July, Birchbox Canada partnered with Best Health, a health and fitness magazine. If you haven’t heard of Birchbox, they are a subscription service and new subscribers can get a box of curated samples for $10 + $4.95 shipping per month! I received this box as a sample, so I have no beauty profile set up, thus these samples don’t reflect me, but hopefully they’ll give you an idea of what Birchbox Canada is like and whether you want to sign up or not!

This month’s “go for the gold” box comes with beauty samples as well as a Best Health magazine. I am a fail in the knowledge of health department (I don’t go to the gym, I like drinking lattes, I sit all day at work, and I like being a burrito. You get the idea.) so I hope I’ll find some motivation and tips in the magazine when I get to reading it! The samples I received were:

Acure Organic Sensitive Facial Cleanser | Full size: $14.99
I haven’t heard of this brand before; this is a gentle cleanser that purifies and nourishes skin. It says on the front: “fragrance free argan oil + probiotic”- not sure how cleansers can be probiotic? The cleanser is also vegan, sulfate free, cruelty free, paraben free.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator | Full size: $34
This is an exfoliating cleanser that contains papaya, micro-crystals, and aloe.It is paraben free, sulfate free, and 99% natural. I like to bring an exfoliator with me when I travel so this is going to be super handy!

Number 4 Clarifying Shampoo | Full size: $36-$82
This is a paraben free, sulfate free shampoo so I’m curious to see how this lathers up and cleanses my hair. I do wish a conditioner was included as well, as I find shampoo and conditioner samples to be average.

Bain de Terre Argan Oil & Passion Flower Color Therapy Styling Oil | Full size: $14.65
I always use products in my hair after washing (currently trying to finish up my Morrocan Oil) so I’m definitely going to try this after. It contains Argan and Monoi oils and smells lightweight and comforting. I can’t wait to see the shine it’s supposed to give me. Wish the sample was bigger though!

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara | Full size: $29
This sample is literally in almost every box or sample bag I’ve seen. Unfortunately, this mascara didn’t work that well for me so I will probably pass this to someone. I’m hoping that next time Benefit Cosmetics throw in better and different variety of samples next time, I would prefer the Roller Lash Mascara from Benefit!

Overall- the samples I’m most interested in are the Vasanti face rejuvenator and the Bain de Terre oil, but I think the everything else fell a bit short. I was hoping there would be more health or fitness related samples- such as cleansing wipes (great for after exercising) or some food samples, or some products that are natural/organic? The Benefit mascara is a bit random to me. But as I mentioned, I do not have a profile set up on Birchbox so I’m guessing most of you will get samples according to your interests!
