I give myself around half an hour in the morning to get ready before work and sometimes I don’t bother washing my hair from Thursday-Saturday. This means that I gotta mask the oiliness like when my mom used to make me soak up the oil with French Fries with napkins. The way I’m soaking up my hair oil and getting rid of the bushiness and walking out like I just washed my hair is thanks to these three quick hair-savers: Big Sexy Hair Powder Play, Conair Infiniti Pro The Ultimate Brush, and COLAB Volume Extreme Dry Shampoo.
1. Big Sexy Hair Powder Play
Powder Play is a volumizing and texturing powder that liquefies when applied. It comes out like fine flour and has a bit of tackiness to it, but once you sprinkle some in your roots and tousle a bit into it, it makes the hair a bit softer and pouffier. Yes, it comes out white but then becomes invisible after you work your fingers into it. I use this a lot on my bangs as it keeps them to the side. What I like best is that this removes that oily, slick look. Sometimes my bangs get oily and start separating into different sizes, and this powder evens them out again!
The Big Sexy Hair Powder Play ($20.95) can be found on Trade Secrets here (free shipping across Canada!)
2. Conair Infiniti Pro The Ultimate Brush
I received this product during the London Drugs Fall Beauty Preview in June, and I cannot go a day without it! This is a brush that is a bit more high maintenance; it uses batteries BECAUSE it has an “anti-frizz ionic generator.” Once you turn the brush on, ions are released to remove static and smooth the hair cuticle. This is my hair straightener replacement in the morning now, it makes the ends of my hair less neater and I notice a reduction of frizz at the top and sides of my hair. My hair was touch-ably softer too. Props to the chrome colour of the brush too! The only thing to remember is to turn the brush off after using, and I guess keep it away from water?! Do you usually keep brushes in the washroom, cause I do! Ultimate brush- yes I believe so!
Conair Infiniti Pro The Ultimate Brush ($39.99) can be found at London Drugs.
3. COLAB Volume Extreme Dry Shampoo (London)
I can never refuse extra volume and extra oil absorbent properties; the COLAB dry shampoos are one of my favourite in the dry shampoo category (I have written a previous review here.) Of course when it comes to 1 day old, 2 day old (do I dare say even 3 day old…) my hair isn’t going to smell like unicorn farts. So after using the Big Sexy Hair Powder Play on my roots and bangs and combing the $&(*) out of my ends, I spritz a bit of COLAB dry shampoo on the underside of my hair to add some volume and douse it in the bergamot, musk, and magnolia scent.
COLAB Dry Shampoo ($9.99 for 200 mL, $5.49 for 50mL) can be found at London Drugs, Jean Coutu, Lawtons, and select Pharmasave and PharamaChoice stores.
I haven’t washed my hair for two days when I took these pictures, and used above mentioned products to make my hair look presentable. Nawt bad, right? (Please say yes, as I have been walking around like this….for a long time!) Another plus for these hair besties is that they’re fairly portable and great for travel. Sometimes I carry the powder just in my purse in case it gets *ahem* a little sweaty (Vancouver sun is bullying everyone nowadays.)
If you’re like me, three cheers to not washing hair! Less hair washing means more sleep for me, so to only wash 2-3 times a week saves up an uber amount of time. Let me know what kind of hair products you use to transform your hair from blah to hurrah!
