When it comes to food festivals, the word “SAMPLES” in a giant cloud will appear over my head (why else do I go to Costco?!) Eat Vancouver is an event I look forward every year because it gathers a lot of local brands and restaurants that I haven’t tried. This event was held in May and I procrastinated on this post after I left for my Asia vacation. For Eat Vancouver, there is an entrance fee and when you are inside you can purchase food tickets. I had a media pass and my friend and I purchased $40 worth of food tickets, which was MORE than we needed and spent the last of our food tickets on macarons and a jar of honey #noregrets.
This event happened at the beginning of May, so my memory may be a bit fuzzy and half of my photos were not up to my standards so I won’t bore you all with a long post! One of our first vendors was a cheese house that had samples of their hard cheese on bread. I can go either way with cheese, my tastebuds may have a party or my stomache may be a party pooper.
Free samples of coffee from a coffee machine that costs over $1000? Don’t mind if I do! Would be nice if some latte art came with it.
We also tried cold brew coffee. Cold brew coffee has 70% less acidity than hot brew, which is awesome because my stomache cannot deal with caffeine half the time. I believe Starbucks is now selling cold brew coffee and I am QUITE excited; I’m the type to drink stuff even though I know my bowels will revenge on me later.

And last but not least, I walked away with a six macarons from Kitchening & Co. I love how they don’t use any artifical colouring in their macarons and they pack a lot of flavour without being overbearingly sweet. You can also find these in Urban Fare!
Eat Vancouver was fun again this year, but I was kind of sad that the restaurant serving raw oysters was not back again this year.I was so ready to slurp down a few. Another TINY complaint was that the gift bag that everyone gets when they leave was a bit smaller than last year. I know it’s free but c’mon, we all want more free food! Admission isn’t that cheap ($14/person) and the food there isn’t cheap either (like the Richmond Night Market. -_-) Nevertheless, I’ll be suckered again for next year! Are you going to be at any food fairs this summer?
