I’v been a long time fan of L’Occitane’s hand creams and shower products, but I’m not too familiar with their perfumes. It’s my first perfume experience with the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette. From their La Collection de Grasse collection, the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc is a blend of blue iris from Grasse and white iris from the Mediterranean. I used to be all about citrus scents, but as I got older, I’ve been accustomed to light florals as well.
The Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc Eau de Toilette ($75 CAD) is housed in this stunning purple-blue bottle with gold floral etchings on the back that is visible from the front. The top notes consist of blackcurrant and citrus; middle notes of iris, ylang-ylang, peach, and the base notes has iris, cedar, and white musk.
Honestly, I do not know what the scent of iris and ylang-ylang is like. When I first sprayed it on my skin, I noticed more of a juicy scent and not much citrus, and after half an hour it fades into a subtle floral, fruity scent. What is left at the end is a musky, earthy scent with a bit of sweetness to it. It wore for around 8 hours on me. I was a bit taken aback at first spray, since it’s not a scent I’m used to using, but the transition to the middle and base notes is really lovely and light; it’s intimate and not overpowering.
I find fragrances last longer when you layer them, but instead of spraying perfume over perfume, showering in the fragrance then adding spritz of the eau de toilette really gives the scent a longer lifetime. In the Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc line, there is also a Body Milk ($32 CAD) and Perfumed Soap ($8) to make your scent last. The body milk spreads super easily on the skin and absorbs it like water; I haven’t used many milk textured lotions and I need to try more! This is great for summer, as I find body butters a bit too thick for the time being. I prefer using shower gel over soap, so the soap is better off to me as a hand soap that leaves the hands with a pleasant scent. I almost want to get the hand cream so my hands can smell like flowers all day.
Overall, I feel luxurious when anything from L’Occitane and it’s about time I get out of their shea butter and hand cream rut and start exploring more from them. The Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc fragrance is an option if you want a “not your everyday floral scent.” Flowers aren’t my forte, but I can tell when my skin likes a beauty product!
