Last year in June, I did a “Summer Makeup Picks” post and I decided to do the same thing this year too because my makeup routine has changed a bit. I opted for the bronzey-pink look in 2014 but this year I am leaning towards the glowy and natural look.
The Eye Makeup| Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don’t Stray Primer, Benefit Cosmetics Fake Up Concealer, Hard Candy Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection (Pinking of You,) CoverGirl The Super Sizer, Maybelline Master Skinny Gel eyeliner
Where to begin?! I bought the Benefit Cosmetics Fake Up Concealer during the last VIB sale at Sephora; it does an OK job in concealing my dark circles but I like how creamy and easy it is to apply this under my eyes. It is so much faster to blend in the undereye compared to something like the NARS Creamy Concealer. Another favourite Benefit product is their Stay Don’t Stray Primer; it has a tinted colour so it makes my eyelid a perfect canvas to add whatever garnish of makeup I want, and everything stays- which is what I need during the summer!
I’ve reviewed the CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara before; since mascaras doesn’t have a long shelf life I need to try to use it constantly. This mascara doesn’t provide the most volume, but it does lengthen and hold for the whole day without smudging at all. I LOVE my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, but the Maybelline Master Skinny Gel liner (which I bought from Asia) is doing quite well at the moment and it’s very easy to use and carry around.
Last but not least, the Hard Candy Top Ten Eyeshadow Palette* in Pinking of You is a fun palette with a mix of brown, neutral, and pink shades that are easy to wear. Hard Candy shadows have been a hit and miss for me, if you have read my previous posts on the Neutral Eyeshadow Palette and the Mod Quad Baked Shadow, but this one has a good range of colours with not too sheer and not too crazy pigmentation. The only caveat is the packaging, I’m just not a fan of the electric pink and black lace; even if it was black plastic that would be fine with me. On the bright side, it costs around $6 CAD at Walmart; WIN!
Lips| Fresh Sugar Nude Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15
I’ve blogged about these Lip Treatments from Fresh before, and though they’re not exactly on my most loved list; they are on many people’s most loved list and they are not a bad option especially when it’s summer and we want SPF everywhere. The Fresh Lip Treatments only hydrate the moment I have the product on for an hour or so, and after I find my lips get dry. Nevertheless, I really like the Nude colour on my lips; it adds the lightest tint with some shine. Weird thing is, I can’t find this on the Sephora Canada website, but it is available in the US!
Cheeks and Face| Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, Make Up For Ever Desire Me Cheek Set, Marcelle Cosmetics CC Cream Complete Correction Golden Glow
Since I want to look glowy and all while being protected from the sun, now is a good time to use the Marcelle Cosmetics CC Cream Complete Correction in Golden Glow*; it is very lightweight and contains SPF 15. I do think it “adds” a bit of luminescence to my skin and takes away the redness around my nose.
To add a slight flush, I am going full steam ahead with the Make Up For Ever Desire Me Cheek Set from the Fifty Shades of Grey collection (reviewed here previously.) I really like the highlighter shade out of this trio, and a light tap on the brush with the coral colour adds a bit of life to my cheeks. To add some definition, I am choosing to use the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer; which was one of the best 100 point perks at Sephora. This smells like sweet cocoa and will probably last me forever at the rate of bronzers/contouring colours I have in my arsenal. I love that this is a mini too so I can carry it around. There isn’t any orange with the bronzer and just a little bit is needed.
