There are plenty of famous luxury beauty brands that scream MONEY MONEY MONEY, such as Dior, Tom Ford, YSL…but I’ve recently discovered that the Rodial instaglam compact deluxe contouring powder is nothing short of amazing. The compact’s faux leather front and silver trimming is absolutely beautiful.
The Rodial instaglam contouring powder is quite a heavy compact and not something I would carry out all the time in my purse. But you probably don’t need this with you everywhere because the powder is here to stay on your face until the end of the day. With my mediocre blending skills, contouring is definitely a challenge and I find it hard to differentiate the difference between a bronzing powder versus a contouring powder. When I laid my eyes on the Rodial instaglam contouring powder, I knew this was no bronzer.
The powder only comes in one shade, and it’s a soft, matte brown. There is no orange nor any muddiness to this shade. It is fine and silky soft when I swirled my finger into the pan to get this swatch. You can see how light the swatch is on my arm, but don’t worry, it’s a buildable type of colour that never looks like you are overdoing it. When I used a small, dense eyeshadow brush with the powder, I got a dark enough brown shade that could be used as an eyeshadow.
The instaglam contouring powder does not give you the dramatic effects like Kim Kardashian, but it creates the softest, subtle shadow to emphasize your features. I used a small amount with a large fluffy blush brush on my cheekbone; can you see the shadow?
The Rodial instaglam compact deluxe contouring powder is one of its kind (at least in my collection) and EVERYTHING IS AWESOME (*cues in tune from the Lego Movie*) from the packaging to the content. Either than the weight of the product, another negative is that it retails for a whopping $75 CAD at Shoppers Drug Mart and Murale. If you have absolutely no contouring products or you are a contouring fanatic, this is definitely an investment piece since it’s so unique.
